I dont, it is annoying and I always can't get to the level I want instantly. Lets say I dont remember what is the last used level and i want a medium level, so I click to turn on the light, "hmm, looks bright, but is this medium or high?"
I then have to cycle through the high-medium-low to verify I am at the medium level.

IF the light is without memory mode, I can just go to medium mode by doing click-tap. If i want low, just click-tap-tap. No need to remember the last used level and go through the whole cycle to verify the level.
 
Well for me it depends. For example on my Olight M21 Warrior(which has memory mode), I always have it on the highest mode because whenever I break it out it is when I need a heck of alot of light. But for my EDC I like it to always start out on the lowest setting so I can move up to a brighter mode only if I need to. So to answer the question, I think that it depends in what way you are deploying the flashlight. It also will depend on user preference, I think some people just love the memory mode, and some people will not.
 
I like a light where it can be enabled or disabled easily, ie: my Ra Clicky.
 
I like the memory mode on the Lumapower d-mini vx Ultra... it has memory that you can lock to any of the three levels... great for knowing that you will always get high, but can easily change... EDC though needs a known level to start on.
 
I want my lights to always be predictable, and I can't have that with memory mode.
 
I like it.....usually have the memory set to high....if I need a different mode then I cycle through it...but always keep the memory to high mode
 
I always prefer memory. I almost always want a light to start in the highest mode. If I use a light in a lower mode, sometimes I'll switch to highest before turning the light off so that it starts in high mode next time.
 
Normally I don't use it. I do like that it's settable in the LiteFlux. If a light will start up in the lowest mode I'm happy.

Yes, I do like memory mode especially in multi mode lights. I always set it on high for me though so that you can have a blast when I turn on my light.
 
On this thread , most people seem to leave their memory mode set to high ... It is much easier to just have a single mode dropin ... My house torch is a Solarforce with single mode dropin ... Perfect to grab in a hurry.

If you want a keyring torch that comes on fairly bright then the iTP A3 is great ... It comes on in Medium then you have low , then high ... Put a Lithium AAA cell in and the Medium really brightens up ... Every time you switch it on , it comes on in Medium ... They also do a single mode A3.

I prefer a programmable light to avoid the issue but if that is not a option I prefer light's like Fenix that do not have memory. Nothing worse then needing low-low and turn it on into 200lm max.

Sub level memory on the Zebralight's is kind of nice so this is why I voted "depends".
 
The only light I like memory mode on is my 24/7/365 Draco. All other lights I like to come on at their preset starting point.
 
I voted for "It depends".

For my smaller lights I prefer to start on low, while I usually only pick up one of my larger lights when I want "a lot" of illumination (but I like the option of a lower level for longer runtime).

I trongly prefer knowing what I am going to get when I switch a light on, and I usually can't remember what I last used.

My current favourite UI is on my Zebralight SC30. Single click for Hi, click and hold starts on Lo, then goes to Med, then Hi. Always the same, so completely predictable and I can get to any of the three levels quickly and easily (and the double click for extra sub-levels is a bonus). Much the same applies to a light with a control ring for brightness/mode selection.

Actually, reading my post makes me realize I should have voted for "No, but with a good UI" :poke:

So what this sounds like to me is that you guys don't so much prefer memory mode as much as you prefer a light that defaults to maximum brightness.
 
If a light needs 'memory mode'.. It has too many modes.

I like a simple hi/low twist switch, at most maybe a medium mode.

I think perhaps the absolute ideal for me would be one where twisting the head or tailcap would control a potmeter or something equivalent that would adjust the brightness like a dial rather than switching between levels. Doesn't anyone make something like that?
 
Oh, that's intriguing..

Now someone just needs to make a 6P tailcap that does the same thing so I can lego together a Malkoff with the same function.:hitit:

There are a good number of lights you might want to check into. The Titan, T1A and Gatlight all work with a smooth potentiometer.
Then there's the lights with a clicky dial which are multiplying fairly quickly recently.
A couple of them would be the SR-3, RRT-0, Infilux to name a few.

Bright enough and unique enough to be a very nice daily usage light however and swapping an XP-G into it will give it a noticeable brightness boost if needed.

I'm keeping my Titan stock, at least for the time being.
