A "Smart" 2 bay -- 1 channel AA Charger.

The reason is ... My kid, now has his own Point n Shoot camera (2xAA).
and........Cd/mp3 player (2xAA).

I have plenty of re-chargebles (from Radio Shack-----Eneloops------Rayovac).

I would like to give him 2 pair of different brands to be able to charge for one component or another.

I do have a few "timed" chargers around.... but would rather have one that will charge up to the capacity needed, and not based on a timer.

One that Wont break the bank....... and can be purchased at a brick n mortar, or even a reputable online store.

Thanks

Re: Does This Exist....?

Hmmm, why would anyone make a smart charger that doesn't charge cells individually? Detecting termination conditions would be tricky.

Just get a Lacrosse BC-9009/BC-700- amazon sells them all the time. Plug two cells in and it'll charge them independent (up to 4 cells).

I use mine with a homemade adapter from radioshack to charge C batteries as well.

Check out post # 15

Just dont know if I trust these... http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/showthread.php?p=1224844

Yeah, I've read the posts. I've scratched my head, and shrugged, and kept using them.

We've got 3 chargers at work. Batteries get cycled through them at 1A each, 4x, on refresh- so quite a bit of heat. I own two at home, constantly recharging batteries (pumps, toys), at 500ma each.

Of course, I have mine sitting on concrete board (Rock board) just in case, but still- I believe everyone is concerned because of these issues, but I haven't had an issue. So I'd still recommend them- never had a problem- but whether that's because there are QC issues or other problems with heating on the cells, who knows.

And my chargers do take abuse- some of the cells go in as null (<0.8V) because they're dead, and I 'jump start' them back up.

Re: Does This Exist....?

Charging in pairs isn't good for the cells. Why not get something small like a c401fs or one of the larger 8 bay MAHA's. Eventually you will get more devices and its always nice to have more charging bays. Both my kids have digicams now and one a leapster 2 plus the pair of wiimotes my c9000 runs almost nonstop.

I don't know whether to laugh or cry. Nope, I missed it.

Mind you like I said I never doubted it was happening, I just don't worry.

It's so hard to tell now adays as to what's going wrong with things. Is it the battery? The charger? The combination?

Oh well... back to the concrete board.

How many other makes/models of charger seem to be melting, even at the cheap end of the market?

Re: Does This Exist....?

You want to be careful, sometimes saving $ on cheaper stuff can cost more in the long run. I bought a three or four $20 chargers then a $40 rayovac "smart charger" as well as a couple simple trickle chargers that came with other devices. probably spent well over $100 in chargers only to replace them all with a $60 c9000. So i ended up spending $160 for one charger (got rid of the remaining couple that didn't die). When I should have just spent $60 on a c9000 from the start.

Re: Does This Exist....?

Find a duracell mobile charger. They are 4 bay independent smart charger. Should cost you less than 20 bucks.

The only 2 bay 2 channel smart charger I can think of is a sony. Don't remember the model number though.

You don't want a 2 bay 1 channel charger. Those aren't good for anything.

Heck why not teach your kid how to use your chargers. Would be a good thing to do with your child.

Thanks ALL.

I went with the Duracell Mobile. Got it for $17 bucks at Toys R us (had a $3 sticker coupon on it). Excellent charger for the money ...... and purpose.

The kid is NOW - well trained on using HIS.... charger.

Thanks Again.
