Does AW Still Make Batteries?

I saw an ad on a vape forum selling 9amp discharge AW 14500.
Does the original AW still make and sell batteries?

I miss AW lately. They made a 17500 battery that fit in my Sunwayman. I had 2 batteries and one quit. The working one is 10 years old. No more to be had.
The 14500 battery you sae must be old I would guess.

I doubt it with 9 amp draw from a 14500. Perhaps someone else is using the name?

AW made high current ICR and IMR cells. Their 650mAh IMR14500 were rated at 9A.

As I recall the AW factory flooded in 2016. I can't find the notice I quoted from rtdvapor on Internet Archive, but it looks like rtdvapor kept selling AW for some time after that, until about Sept. 2020 before the IA snapshots cease later that year, but rtdvapor may have been a zombie for awhile, not actually a live site. Oddly there's no snapshots of their AW section for all of 2018 and 2019. Other sites sold AW, but rtdvapor was at least one of the authorized resellers.

My last AW order from rtdvapor was in April 2017, but I kept ordering KeepPower from them until mid-2020. The last email flyer I received from them was in Dec. 2020.

@recDNA, I'm sure you're probably aware, but just in case, Illumn sells Vapcell H10 INR14500 10A 1000mAh cells, also in button top. If you don't need 10A, there's higher capacity available with Vapcell F12 INR14500 3A 1250mAh cells, also in button top.

For reference, an AA Eneloop is 50.1mm long, and works in my Eagletac

This Wurkkos buttontop 14500 is 50.1mm long (unprotected), also works in my Eagletac

This Lumintop 14500 battery is protected, button top, 50.5mm long, and USB rechargeable, I have not tried one, but probably works.

a Vapcell button top is 52mm (unprotected), might be too long, have not tried

They're also 9 bucks a piece for inscrutable reasons and yet only rated for 1A.

Shockli 14500 5A 1000mAh are priced more reasonably (~$5.25/pc), and tested, 50.4mm, delivers current and capacity.

Efest IMR14500 V2 6.5A 650mAh cost even less, are tested, 50mm, take more current but deliver less capacity.

But my recommendation is to get the $4/pc Vapcell F12 3A 1250mAh flat tops at 49mm and make your own button top (but obviously you'll first need to know how deep the reverse polarity protection is and what diameter it will accommodate, but magnets 2mm in diameter x 1mm in height is a reasonable bet for these F12 49mm length cells, magnets are inexpensive from China but there's a long wait, here is a domestic seller for more money, but more pieces than you'd ever need – be careful with them, once dropped they'll stick to something metal and can never be found; it will drive you crazy, so do not drop. Also definitely figure out what size you need, depth necessary may be more than 1mm). Though I have heard theories of neodymium magnets shifting and somehow shorting cells, I have never seen it myself, nor ever seen any legitimate evidence of it ever occurring. But if that is an irrational concern, a drop of solder will accomplish the same goal.

I definitely miss the AW P17500's a lot. They were made to the closest specs to work in 3 cell Surefires. I have some issues with other newer cells.

I have two AW P17500 sets left and they both still work and hold voltage well.

I have two AW P17500 sets left and they both still work and hold voltage well.

I am using KeepPower 17500 interchangeably with my old AW 17500. They work well in 3-cell SureFires.

They work in a 9P style light but..
As others have noted, and I've tested for myself, they don't work in the M3. Something to do with the extra length I believe.
