does the nitestar 3 watt throw light well

Candle Power Forums

Help Support Candle Power:

According to the GoldenGadgets and eBay ad copy, it's supposed to be focusable.

Since it only has one emitter in it, it sould give a nice spot, because it uses a reflector instead of an optic.

I've got it...its focuseable (not that really noticeable)... it has a green tint and I've got SV1K binned. I'm planning to change the LS with TYOK.

I would probably call it a "medium spot". Its beam is considerably narrower than the beam from my SureFire L4, so it's definitely not a flood.

Mine also has a slight greenish tint (when compared with other LS products), but it isn't really bothersome to me.

i have buy one of that

the beam is focusable, it can be very flood but in thightest mode it don't reach a mag 4D for example

overall is a good flashlight it can light an object at 100mt of distance

someone know if it have some regulation?

I really like this light, (except for the problem I just posted in this forum). I agree the color could be a little better, but for me the balance of throw and spill are really good. You can adjust the hot spot to be pretty tight or loosen it up to about twice the size, while the spill is enough to lighten a room. The balance between the hot spot and spill reminds me of the pelican M6 led, only brighter.

Hello - I am newly registered in the forum, but I have been reading it for quite a while.

Has anyone tested the runtime for the Nitestar 3W? The dealer claims 12 hours for the 1W and 8 hours for the 3W, which seems disproportionate considering the power drain. Or could such a disparity result from the 3W needing less resistance in the circuit and wasting less power? Of course runtime is ambiguous to begin with, so the best answer would be a graph of intensity versus time.

I have the 1W by the way and find the beam excellent with a creamy white tint and tight focus. Its tint is much improved compared with an early 1W Inretech which had quite a greenish-yellow halo.
Thanks!

I find it hard to believe too that it would last for 8 hrs. I wonder if its regulated at all. A chart would be good has anyone done a run chart on the nitestar 3w? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/naughty.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ohgeez.gif
