Don’t do this in a restaurant. (When they reopen)

Right before my state shut down all the restaurants we were celebrating my nephews 10th birthday at a really nice Italian restaurant. This nephew is a high-performing genius. While waiting for dinner I showed him my Warrior X pro flashlight and asked him if he thought it could boil water in my glass with it. I had the bezel next to the glass and gave it a short full power flash blast.
The lights were low in the restaurant and when that light hit the water, it was like a lightning bolt hit the place. Instantly, there were gasps, then total silence, and you would of thought power went out. I was startled, very amused and a bit embarrassed at the same time.

My wife made me put it away. I told my nephew to stop by and pick out a real flashlight from my collection.

Did the water boil?

Now you're going to have to do the experiment and let us know the outcome

The old party trick was burning paper, not boiling water, but as you discovered, modern lights are so ridiculously bright that just turning them on indoors is now the party trick..

That's the reason I no longer carry my emisar light. It got my pocket smoking.

Years ago, I was showing my first custom to another couple at a dimly lit restaurant. The female asked to see it. Much to my amusement and to the amazement of her husband ..... and the rest of the patrons ...... she turned it on. Her husband yelled her name under his breath and was shortly apologizing to the manager who had come over and asked - "Is everything alright?"

Allthewhile, I sat there smiling. Not my wife. :shakehead

I love showing people who think a maglight is bright what the high performance LED's can do. I have sent a few people to this forum because of it.

Roughly 30 years ago my father got a 4D cell maglight. GREAT flashlight by the standards of the day. Today I have budget pocket size LED lights that put out as much light. Such is the march of technology.

PeterH. I have been thinking of getting a big ole mag light and removing the head. Then just stick a modern torch in the tube, like my Olight Warrior X Pro. "Oh, lookie how bright my Mag Light is". Them pull out the modern light, still blazing.

My wife has got on me for goofing with lights, well, a lot. Also, when I take my Surefire M6 and light up the office buildings on Park Ave, at night and look in with my Zeiss 10 X 56 Victory binoculars. She hates that.

My wife it always embarrassed when I pull out a EDC to read a menu etc. She always asks when can't i use the light on my phone like everybody else!

My wife & I used to frequent a nice pub to meet friends, celebrate birthdays, and special occasions. The back bar was fully mirrored, with the liquor bottles lined up in front. Back when small, bright, LED strobe flashlights hit the scene, I tested mine by shining it on that mirror. For a moment, all the noisy bar-chatter ceased. Although some of our friends were impressed that so much stunning light could come from a very small light, the owner's glare indicated that one test was the limit.

Often when meeting a couple and the guy's sister at that pub, I'd bring my latest light acquisition, which were always the smallest EDCs I had. The fellow was also a flashlight enthusiast so we'd compare our miniature finds. His sister usually accompanied them and would inspect our lights. She eventually had a few small lights and one had a low-powered laser which she'd have some fun with. Eventually I got a high-powered green laser. You can imagine the other patrons surprise at the bright sparkles given off when laser-zapping a clear glass bottle in front of the back-bar mirror. I made sure the owner was absent that evening.

Eventually, when meeting this couple, our friends sister would ask me to show her my "little thing".
