I've always been adored by the dorcies that were able to go from full flood to a nice spot and do so without many artifacts in the beam.
Here is the older model:

Here is the newer LED model:

Being a member here, I've been wanting to mod the original version. However, recently noticing the new LED version, I've been thinking that it might actually have become possible to mod it with something higher in power.
I don't have either versions, but there is a possibility that the new LED version of this light uses some sort of heatsinking, or is at least moddable to accept a heatsink. If anyone has the new version, could you please confirm this?
Even if it doesn't have any heatsink initially, I would very much like to know about all the possibilities of modding this great flashlight with a more modern and high power LED and by chance, a better diffuser lens.
I don't even remember seeing the flashlight without the lens on. But off the top of my head, I can blindly suggest somehow drilling the plastic base out of the light, installing an aluminum or copper one in there, and then setting up some drivers and something nice like a P7 SSC. I realize this would mean making the body metal for proper heatsinking. But I'd still like to hear what some of you will suggest.
