hi

this is a real newbie question but for some reason i can't see to get savy on the recharables espically the doubles

i have a sf l2, takes 2 123's i'd like to know if their is a single battery that i could pop in there that is rechargable and safe for my light

how would the run time of that battery compare time wise to the regular 123 lith's?

thanks

A SF L2 will not take a rechargable battery. The tube diameter is too small to take it. I think its on the order of .002 or .003 of an inch (can't remember, can maybe send a PM to CPF member luxlover, he took down measurements with his calipers or whatever you call that measurement device.)

I 'll have some Protected 14670 ready very soon that will fit into an L2. A single battery will drive the L2 in regulation with a little loss in max. brightness but it will run a lot cooler too. The result is the same as the U2 running on a 18650 but with less capacity.

AW - WOW, that I did not know. Will check on that once it comes out. Whats the voltage and capacity on those batteries?

cool thanks (all) for the responce,

what is the difference betweent the 14670 and 18650 i guess size for one, but the amp capacity i further guess is less on the 14 , is that due to size or chemestry? i ponder

let me know when that battery is avail, if it's safe for the light and works almost as good as the reg lith then price pending i'd like to get some

thanks again

The 14670 has a diameter of 14.5mm and the length of 2 X CR123A. It 'll fit inside the L2 tube with some room to spare. It has a nominal voltage of 3.7V and 4.2V right off the charger. Being a protected cell, it will not be overcharged, over-discharged and short circuited. Capacity is lower due to its smaller size being 1000mAH. Runtime on the L2 is estimated to be 45 minutes.
