Hey guys...

just wondering if anyone has tried drilling out the piston from a EX10 or D10 for that matter....

i have a spare EX10 piston lying around... and i have a Green Trit lying around... and thought i'd figure a way to drill out the piston so i can install the trit in there...

never done anything like this before... just wondering if anyone out there has had experience with drilling it out?

Thanks,
KraZy

It would be best to use an endmill in a milling machine, drills don't cut sideways very good and endmills have a very short life in a drill or drill press.

I used a drill press. The biggest challenge was stabilizing the piston. Clamping it bent the tube so I had to re-round it.

hehe... dangit... i don't have access to any of those type of drills...

i was thinking of using a dremel... and to stablize the piston.. i was thinking of either drilling out a piece of wooden... or just pushing the piston into some styrofoam... that should hold it down decent...

i just can't think of any dremel bit that will be able to cut sideways??? and trying to keep it in a straight line might be hard... tho i think i can use a cutting plate to kinda score the line that i want.. and then use a side grinding bit to kinda bore out enough to fit the trit... which is just 1.5mm x 5mm...

at least this piston is a spare... so even if i screw it up... it's no big deal...

You CAN do it with a dremel tool or drill, but you will not be happy with it. If you want, I'll mill it for you for $15. This will include milling the slot and installing the trit with Norland 88. Shipping back to you included. PM me if interested...
