dual brightness mode for my L4

Hey Guys, I am new as a member but have been lurking for a while.

I just got the new L4 with 120 lumen output. Love the light, it is noticeably brighter than the previous model.

I have a question, it seems a few surefire lights have the the two stage tailcaps, will any of these work on this light? IE if i swap tailcaps with a e2l outdoorsman for example will it give me two levels of light, also can the circuitry handle it?

I love the brightness, but sometimes i would like to be able to see after I use it at night.

thanks.

If I recall correctly, the electronics for the L4 are in the head so swapping it with a E2 tailcap will not allow for 2 modes.

I've read of tailcaps that will allow for 2 mode operation, but the names of them escapes me at the moment.

You can get a Aleph or McTC tailcap from the Sandwich Shoppe to house a McE2S two-stage switch that will give you the same UI as the Surefire models that use a resistored tail switch to give them their low mode(like the L1).
Surefire does not make a factory two-stage tail that fits the E series models, and the low mode of the E1L, E2L, E2DL, etc. is dependant on the circuit, which switches modes when power is momentarily cut/restored.

I don't think they do them any more. This is from the Sandwich Shoppe site:
The Classic 2-stage switch and E-series 2-stage switch will be discontinued. We are not allowed to make and sell the the McE2S and McC2S once we run out per a large flashlight company's request and patent. They were nice enough to let us deplete stock.
There's no stock listed so I assume that's the end.

Well for those of us who bother to look, there's one flat version already assembled, and SEVEN of the kits in stock, which take about ten seconds to put together.
Make that six in stock...ah, screw it, I'm not buying a flat tailcap, too. Forgot..Shaney, you'll have to buy the Aleph flat tailcap body, not the McTC I mentioned before-they only have them in black and bare aluminum.

Anybody remember if the flat McE2S works in a Z52/4 with the flat boot?
Guess I'll have to do another search...

Thanks for the responses guys. I will take a look at those options. Thanks for the heads up.
