Novelty Product: Coleman LED Lantern

Novelty = piece of crap which does not produce enough light even for an eagle to see a basketball about to hit it headfirst.

If light were gasoline, this lantern wouldn't have enough to drive a **** ant's motorcycle around the inside of a Cheerio.

If photons were alchohol, there wouldn't be enough from this lantern to get a man smaller than a ununpentium115 atom drunk. LOL

This is what $5 whirling down a commode looks like.

It sucks sucks sucks!!!

Even Mr. Pee Pee Poo Poo Pants down the street would quickly put it out of its misery. Though I don't advocate the wanton destruction or disposal of any working flashlight, despite what the photograph above depicts.

I saw one of these so called led lanterns - they're so dull you have to strike a match to see if it's on!

I don`t want to pee on your Cheerios guys (no, wait, Craig already did that

) but

it isn`t meant as a flashlight!

It`s like those light bulb shaped keychains you see- with a tiny little bulb in that makes them glow when you turn the cap, or push a button or something. Just something fun to play with when you get bored. No real practical use.

Course, if someone wanted to send one of those things over here

- I`d try and see what mr Bench Grinder does to the red LED insode, to make a brighter peripheral light instead of having it all shine up into the top of the thing where it gets lost. Maybe even replace it for a brighter LED, yellow or orange perhaps (not enough voltage for white

I've never seen one of those.
Got a picture of one anywhere?

Imagine that same little Coleman lantern with an incandescent light in it, and you have a pretty clear picture. I have one - it came with a set of lights I bought years ago. It is probably dimmer than the LED one you have.

Sorry, I`ve only seen them occasionally on Ebay, rarely selling for much, just thought they`d be pretty common- a cheap $1 drugstore thing or something like that.
I doubt the light output would be much to write home about, maybe enough to glow at your keyhole if it`s totally dark, or of course for those obligitory Uncle Fester gags- the old lightbulb-in-the-mouth thing.

But they`re just meant as novelties. "ooh look aint that cute- your keychain looks like a light bulb and even lights up like one"

Ah good - a reason to breathe new life into this, one of my favorite threads. HERE, in all it's glory is the original Coleman keychain lantern. Displayed here in the coveted "collectible green" color.

If anybody wants to trade an Arc-LS or anything comperable for it, please let me know ASAP, as it may be headed for the testing toilet sooner than later!

Note: The lantern is ON in this picture.

Hey wait!

I just popped the battery compartment open, and wiped the crud off the 10-year-old button cell, and the bulb actually lights up something similar to white. This is a KEEPER!
