Could someone please tell me what is the difference if any between the Duracells CR123, CR123A, DL123 and DL123A. They appear to be the same, why different model numbers. Thanks

Duracell 123

Does anyone know what is the difference if any between the Duracell battery CR123, CR123A, DL123 and DL123A. They seem to be the same but why the different model numbers. Thanks

Re: Duracell 123

They are the same type of cell - 3V Lithium primary (non-rechargeable), 17 mm diameter, 34 mm long.

I'm moving this to the battery section.

Re: Duracell 123

CR123a is the standard name of this size of cell, some manufacturer put their own initial in place of CR, like duracell's DL123a.

Welcome to CPF!

The CR123A is a generic model/type of battery. Others here will be able to tell you far more about it.

It appears usual for companies to use the first two letters as brand identifiers such as Duracell (DL), SureFire (SF) etc.

I'll move this thread to the batteries subforum.

Best regards,
Al

brdhntr, there was no need to post the same question twice - as you can see, this is just duplication of effort by all concerned. It is called "cross-posting" and it is against the rules.

I have merged the 2 threads.
