Has anyone else noticed the following.....

I generally rotate my EDC collection. (Usually 2xCR123 lights). If the cells are still good, I'll pull them out and put them into whichever light I plan to carry for the next few days. Besides Surefire cells, and a handful of Streamlight cells, the other type of CR123 cells I use most often are Duracell brand. Every once in awhile, I'll take the cells out of a light; and I can feel what could best be described as an extremely thin layer of honey on the label wrapped around my Duracells. It's odd because it only happens with my Duracell CR123 cells.

Has anyone else experienced something similar?

Right, I have not. But I also have an amprobe ampmeter and the plastic covering the red and black leads get wet like what you are describing, so I'm guessing it has to do with the plastic wrap in the batteries. The substance I don't think harms anything and does not affect battery performance.

Low grade wrapper glue most likely.

I hadn't thought of that. A very realistic possibility.

If that's the case, I wonder why a company known for making excellent CR123 cells would cheap out on the glue.

I thought the wrapper was heat shrinked onto the cells?
I'd put one cell in a really hot environment and see if the same thing happens, if not I'd pull the duracell cells out of my lights and contact the manufacturer for an explanation.
