Today I bought a duracell rechargeable nimh charger since it was cheap.. $11 for the charger with 4 duracell rechargeable nimh batteries included.

I ordered a few sanyo eneloops online and I'm wondering if the eneloops would charge efficiently on my duracell charger, or should I buy a separate eneloop charger?

My flashlight addiction only began 3 days ago, so I'm still new to all this. But I'm learning fast. Nitecore D10 shipping!! :twothumbs

model number is cef14nc. output: 3v dc 360mA. Input: 50/60Hz 7W.

look on the charger and give us a model number..... but chances are it is a dumb timer based charger and not recommended for the better nimh cells as they can cook batteries that are partially discharged before shutting off.

to me nowadays a charger should have a battery status indicator period. If cellphones,mp3 players, even cd players have had this eons ago. why have this not thought of on battery chargers before. I mean why finally now that is the question.

IMO, your new D10 and eneloops deserve better than the Duracell Value charger. The Duracell Mobile charger is much better as it is a smart charger. Or, you can just get straight to the point and get yourself a Maha C9000. They are in the 50$ range but well worth it.

I just bought several packs of the Target Sale white top Duracell Pre-Charged (rebranded Eneloops apparently) $6.49/4pk 1.2V 2000 mAh - it says - "standard charge 200mA for 16h"

I avoided buying the bundled charger for the very reason listed above...but now curious as to an adequate charger that won't break the bank? Hopefully able to charge 4 at a time.

I have several chargers -
Energizer 2.8v - 360mA
Sony 1.4v - 400mA
Supreme Power Rapid Charger - 900mA!!!!

None of these will work well - and in fact might cook the batteries!
So I need a "smart charger". Anything out there sub $50 that does 4 at a time?

Thanks!

If you can find the Duracell Mobile (not Value) charger, that one has four independent channels. There are a few for sale from another forum member in the cpf marketplace for 18$ shipped.

That '200 mA for 16h' is not a recommendation, just a suggestion. The best charger to use will use a charging current much higher, up to 1000 mA.

Therefore nothing is obviously wrong with the chargers you have. The Sony is probably fine and the Supreme Power charger may even be the best.

If you happen to want a new charger that comes with a recommendation, then the Duracell Mobile Charger is highly regarded.

I'm also wondering about a similar topic. For my b-day, my parents finally bought me a duraloop, charger combo. It's the 15 min charger. It has an indicator light, but I haven't had a chance to use it yet, because I haven't discharged my second set of duraloops yet. It says that the batteries will charge, and when they are done, the red light will either turn on, or off (can't remember, too lazy to look right now). Is the 15 minute charger a smart charger, or if I use it, could it cook my cells?
