I know there's 4 generations with the 2000 mah eneloops but are duraloops the same? If so how can you tell which ones you have? I know there was a few label changes with the duraloops but did they change generations with each label change or are they all gen 1 eneloops?

Sorry, but I replied to you last night and then the server glitched before it could go through and I lost my thoughts to the ether. I've only been into the newer NiMH cells since 1/12, pretty much right before my join date, so I can't speak to DuraLoops before this time frame.

I've got DuraLoop AAs--the HR6 DX1500 2000mAh-jobbies with the white tops, upper copper colored wrapper and lime colored splashing near the bottom. They are the ones that Target blew out on clearance over this past summer, so $3.65 per 4 pack plus tax. I bought the last three packs they had and left the AAAs.

I've always assumed that these were Gen. 2/1500 Eneloops because they test out to be right at that 2000mAh mark, +/- a slight variation. They're not the Eneloop Lites and they're not the Eneloop 1800s, as the latter had yet to hit America in Sanyo packaging and these Target/USA drugstore packs have/had been around prior to the Gen3/1800s even being released in Japan.

Now we have these new 2400 Durablock AA/AAA (I think,) DuraLoops that are black tops, with copper colored wrapper on the upper part, bright green band with 'Durablock' inside and then the lime green splashing around the bottom.

2400mAh, black tops and 'Made in Japan.'

We're assuming that these are Eneloop XX/Pro batteries, since they test out quite well and have that 'Made in Japan' for country of origin. Until somebody does a long term discharge test on them, that's the best that I have, but they're a lot cheaper than even the cheapest Ebay pricing that I've seen, at $10.99 at my Target stores.

A final thought: what is the connection between the mirrored wrapped Energizer 2300mAh batteries, which in my substantial experience, are pretty good batteries which are 'Made in Japan' and these new Duracell 2400s?

It looks like Energizer has repackaged some stuff and/or brought out new stuff.

Chris

I am trying to get to the bottom of this, but FDK is very closed mouthed about which batteries are actually theirs. It seems that they have sold (in the past) and are currently selling under many different "private brands." Apparently, they are some how "legally bound" by some kind of restriction that prevents them from even freely admitting that they actually the true source of all real Eneloops.
