I just won this package for 1125.00. Is this a good deal or what! Here is the description:

MBS-410 Maxa Beam Searchlight „h 2 MBP-1207 NiCad Rechargeable Battery Modules „h 2 MBA-6005 Battery Carry Straps „h MBP-5200 Multi Voltage NiCad Conditioner/ Quick Charger „h MBA-1850 Covert Infrared Filter „h MBA-6100 Filter Pouch „h MBA 8105 5 Ft. Power Coil Cord „h MBA-6300 Large Storage Case (The system is new with all components still wrapped in their original sealed plastic. The bulb has zero hours or cycles other than factory testing. This package left the factory in November of 2001. There are two updates for this package: 1) Front Lens Replacement kit, which adds to the water resistance of the MBS-410 searchlight, costs $55.00 2) There is a new version of the units charger that is less bulky. The technicians at the factory still utilize the charger with this system.)

Excellent deal, if you want a Maxabeam /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif. I think I'd rather have an X990 but obviously you know what you're doing and did what was right for you.

I`m jealous /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon15.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif . You got yourself a good deal alright!

I`ve seen a Maxabeam on Ebay lately for $1300 with a Buy it Now of $2000, and that was only the Basic Kit (light, NiCd battery, slow charger). But being overseas I`m limited only to the auctions that will ship internationally.

I dream of owning one of those some day, despite the fact that I know there are better ones out there (KumKang for example). I`ve just been obsessed by the MaxaBeam ever since I first saw them being used in the X files some 10 or so years ago. The only things holding me back are the price and the almost complete non-avaliability here in the UK.

I'm sure you will love it. I have both the X990 and the Maxa beam, actually two Maxa beams (don't ask) and they are two very different animals and both very impressive. Past a few hundred yards is where the Maxa beam is at it's best. It's almost unbelievable how they can keep that beam so tight. Also in the looks category the Maxa beam has it in spades. Larry.

rld, you got a pretty good price for the MB. I think you'll like it once you take it out and start playing with it... The X990 is certainly more economical, and a whole lot brighter, but very few lights the size of the MB can do what the MB does... Among search and rescue standards, it can't be beat...

The X990 is nice. I have a demo that brightguy sent me. I like this light but it lacks in ergonomics or something. It is just plain ugly. I really wanted the Kumkang as my 1st choice. I think that I can sell the maxabeam and get my money back if the Kumkang becomes available. I also think that the maxabeam will actually be more user friendly in the backyard in that it does not give off so much immediate light around you when yo fire it up. By that I mean the neighbors will not see my whole yard lit up when I am playing light games.
