E2D led defender battery replacement Batteries blocked in

I was reading the instructions and it says to remove the tailcap (like all other surefires im aware of) to replace the batteries. Well when i take the cap off, the batteries are blocked in and wont come out. Was my tube machined wrong, or are you supposed to replace the batteries out of the front by taking off the led head assembly? I havent tried taking the head off yet but why would it be different than all other surefires to replace batteries?

E series batterys come out the top, just take the head off. Its different then say the L series because the body is slimmer.
