\"Earlamp\"

Was at Frye's in San Jose today and saw an alternative to a headlamp. What might be called an earlamp. It was a single white LED light mounted in what looked like a cellphone hands free headset. It had a rubber piece to go over the ear. The button batts were mounted in the area that would normally be the earpiece (speaker) and the LED was at the end of what would normally be the boom mic. I think it was made by Garrity. Gotta give them credit for creativity! I'm not a fan of button cell lights, but it is a neat way of getting around having to wear a strap on your head.

Is this it?

Re: \"Earlamp\"

reminds me of those headphones with a microphone coming out except it's a flashlight instead...I would imagine the weight of a flashlight + batteries on your ear could get a bit annoying...

Re: \"Earlamp\"

what someone needs to make is an LED earlight with a cord to a belt clip battery pack with AA cells in it.

Re: \"Earlamp\"

Yeah. That looks like it, Craig. Have you played with it?

Xero, I doubt the weight would be an issue. If anything I'd think it less cumbersome than a headlamp for reading in bed. Still, it's not for me, since it runs on buttons batts.

Someone needs to make the light that they have in STNG where Piccard gets BORGED. it looked kinda like an earlamp but had a red light in it.

I bought mine at The Sharper Image. I know that TSI has some gun control horse puckey going on, but a CPF member wanted to see it evaluated, so I bought it.
I didn't screw with it that much, but I did do a web page for it.
The web page I have it on is right here if you're interested - and I know you are. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Re: \"Earlamp\"

Thanks. Did you try reading with it?

Re: \"Earlamp\"

I don't remember if I tried to read with it when I was assembling the web page, but I'll look for it today, and if I find it, I'll try to read with it and report my findings in this thread. Fair enough?
