What can you tell me about this new light I just acquired? I no it's discontinued. Will Novatac warranty it if it needs repair. Was $80.00 to much to pay for it? I like it for the pocket clip as it can be clipped to the bill of a ball cap and used as a head lamp. Any input will be appreciated....

It's a great light. The newer Novatac models (85/120) are maybe two clicks brighter. You have to ask yourself if that's really a big deal in real use.

Novatac will not warranty it. You might get some help from HDS (Ra Lights) if need be.

I think $80 is a very fair price. You got a good deal.

I still have an HDS B42 and a U60GT. I like them both very much.

Re: EDC Ultimate 60?

$80 is a steal depending on the condition of light.

It's a great light. Reliable and can be upgraded to today's LEDs.

Re: EDC Ultimate 60?

A fantastic light for a great price! Good find. Now, all you have to do is to mod it with an SSC P4 and you're all set. My U60 XRGT is long overdue for a Seoul mod... :(

Re: EDC Ultimate 60?

Weird. That's not (quite) what I expected it to look like. I thought the EDC 42 and 60 series came from HDS, and the 85/120 series came from Novatac.

That clearly says Ultimate 60 on it, but the packaging is clearly Novatac. I wonder if it's some kind of prototype or something that came out during the transition between HDS and Novatac. Definitely a collectors item, I'd imagine.

Here's a pic of my HDS Ultimate 60. In the first picture, it's the second from the left. It's on the bottom in the other photo. Notice the font is different, and it lacks the crenelated bezel ring.

Can you tell if yours has a Luxeon, or a Seoul emitter inside?

That does look different. I don't think it is an original HDS EDC model. The original ones had 4 digit serial numbers, the lettering was smaller and the stock bezels were not crenelated. I wonder if what Ty_Bower said was true and it was some kind of prototype/transition model for Novatac. Does it take 3 clicks and a press to enter the options menu or does it take 10 clicks and a press to get into the options menu?

The tailcap is also a dead ringer for the Novatac. The HDS knurled tailcap is thinner. Great light either way!

There is a guy over in the market place selling one modded to a 120p for $175.00. He said it is a one of a kind. Military issue only never sold to civilians.....

The bezel is removable. I don't have it with me right now so I'm not sure about the clicks to program.....

Hmm so another one of these so-called Marine lights. I wonder why we got to see 2 in such a small time frame.
I'm going to research this and try to get to the origins of this light.
The owners manuel is dated March 8, 2007. that was not long after HDS and Novatac merged.....

There is NOTHING BETTER than a FLASHLIGHT MYSTERY!! (Angela Lansbury would be proud....)

That is a great looking light!

I dug this up. Not much though it coensides with what the guy is saying in the market place...
" Re: Military Contracts
Back on topic!

I got a response from Jim @ NovaTac. The products they are making for the military are actually for the Marines. There are no NSN numbers. This means that I can not order one to play with."

I don't no why this is so hush hush? I'll keep looking and start emailing Monday. We will find out about this flashlight!!!
Stay tuned.....

Just spoke to Henry about this light. It was in fact made just prior to the split between hds/novatac basically it's a novatac without the flats and was build and sold only to the military. It has all the same features as a novatac as well as all the short comings.

Thanks for the info Dan!
I almost grabbed one of these recenty.

I feel better waiting for the RaClicky. Just my 2 cents
