Eiger dreams

It took me a couple years and many trial lights to figure out what I like... and I think Peak can get me closer to... well, the peak of enlightenment. In small sturdy lights, I like flood and neutral.

I thought I would post here first to see if my Eiger dreams are feasible. I will likely call Peak this week, but this is my shopping list. Is this list available?

Light One:
Pocket style (does this tail stand?)
Material: stainless steel
Knurled
Beam: wide
NiMH AAA and 10440 compatible
Emitter: neutral XPG (what is the bin and tint?)
Level: 8 (bright)

Light Two:
Keychain style with lug
Material: stainless steel
Knurled
Beam: wide
NiMH AAA and 10440 compatible
Emitter: neutral XPG (what is the bin and tint?)
Level: whatever level will give me a 10 hour runtime (any ideas which one and how many lumens would this equate to?)

I would like to be able to swap parts between lights which I assume is possible.

I have a couple other questions generally about Peak lights.

1. Wondering why they use a lexan lens? Doesn't this scratch easily? What are the technical merits? Can it be upgraded to glass or sapphire?

2. Also wondering something really basic... are these lights simple twisties? As in tighten to turn on?

Thanks for reading and replying,

Firstly, welcome to the Peak LED Solutions forum. Your best option is to check the configurations and information provided at Peak's Eiger SS page. It also lists approximate lumen ratings, which you will find useful. You can also order the light from here. Bob, at RMSK does a CONUS shipping, but I am not sure if he ships to Canada.

Yes, between the Eigers', and Matterhorns' you can swap heads' as well as bodies'. That is the best part - most Peak lights can be lego'ed. :)

#1 I have no idea. #2 Yes, they are simple twisties, but you also have the choice of a momentary tail switch.

Good luck, and let us know which one did you finally get.

Everything on your (mostly edited out) shopping list should be doable - do as Amarendra says and give Peak or RMSK a call.

Make sure you double check on the knurled SS though, since certain tubes have been shipped unknurled at times. I personally really prefer the knurled SS over the smooth.

The pocket body will tailstand beautifully.

Parts are interchangeable- I have come to really like the interchangeability of Peak lights. I have a small box full of Eiger components and I build a light that will best fulfill my mission. Low light output, wide beam, small (10180), pocketable for a restaurant? No problem. Bright, narrow beam with two AAAs for runtime? Medium output for reasonable runtime and less heat generation, single AAA? Need a little output boost but still want something for the keychain? Pop on a 10280 body and choose a head. Since the lights are quite reasonably priced, this is all very doable.

Above are the questions that still perplex me.

I would like a 10 hour runtime on an eneloop, not a Li Ion cell.

I also am interested in knowing if XPG neutral is available. Neutral is an option on the website, and I know that they use XPG so I just added it up. Would love to know what bin and tint too.

You're going to have to go pretty dim to get a 10-hour runtime on any AAA battery. A #1 or #2 might be able to pull that off. Rechargeables don't hold as much power as primaries do, though, so you might not be able to get that kind of runtime on an eneloop.

The website is outdated, neutral was an option with the Rebels, it may not be with the XP-G.
