I got a couple of these battery holders in today from Elektrolumens for my latest 5W LS Mag mod. I was unable to use the included spring connectors, but with a little work they work perfectly. The "head" is 3/8" plywood cut with a 1.25" hole saw then sanded down to fit with a 8-32 screw for a + contact. The rear end is a piece of copper clad board ground to fit. Fits in a MAg 2D body perfectly, running 6 NiMH with a 0.5 ohm resistor and a 30 mm optic results in a fantastically bright light. It does heat up the body, but only after 15-20 minutes. This battery holder is real solid, not your flimsy typical holder. Photos follow:

edit: plywood is 3/8", maybe called 1/2"?

Dang, what a great work of art. Now, if the 3 to D holder make its appearance...

very nice man!

works well too i'm sure /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Rob: Wayne said that the "3-to-D" should work in the new Mags, but I have to admit that I'm more than a bit skeptical to. If they really turn out to be the outside diameter that he quoted a few months ago, it will only have a hairs width that it can be off or else it won't work at all on some Mags. I figure that if the first bunch are a flop that they will design a version 2 of it or something though. It is just too useful of an adapter for somebody to not mass produce it. BTW, excellent job on the battery holder mod. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
