What do you guys think of these two packages?
(clickable pics)

Package 1:

8 x AA and 2 x AAA. The other C and D 'cells' are actually spacers of sorts where one of the smaller cells slides and snaps into the center section.

Package 2:

A rechargeable pack that accepts USB connections. Is it enough to charge up a Blackberry 8310 (for example)?

I got two of the top packages the other day, the cheapest I found AA's is $10 for 4 so when you factor in shipping and the AAA's (which I need 4 of ironically) it's about the same as online, plus you get a charger.

It's a 300mA 4 slot charger but it charges 2 at a time or 4 at a time

AAA's are charged at 150mA.

The charger model number is NC-MQM06U. If you can find a pack with the NC-MQM05U you can charge single cells.

I got two of the first package when they had a coupon a few months ago. I wish Costco would offer the battery only refill kits that they had last year.

Edit:
Look on the price sheet for the second package, see the asterisk on the top right corner (*) ? That means that they aren't ordering more of those. It's the costco way.

Costco in Ontario has the refill kits. I picked one up last week - 6 AA, 2 AAA and 2 each of the C and D spacers. I think the price was around $23.00. They also have the first kit shown at the start of this thread. I didn't see the need for the Enereloop charger if I have a C9000.

Canadian costco have different product from american costco. Like the independent channel 2 hour charger that's included in eneloop pack here isn't avaliable in u.s., while the $30 leatherman P4+S4 isn't avaliable in Canada.

My local Costco has the first eneloop pack. How do you all who have this pack like the charger?

Can I charge Duraloops in that charger?

Well I tried to beat the system.

Apparently though it takes 1.5V cells to activate the circuit lol.

I tried with both Eneloops and Energizer 2500 rechargeables.

Anyway here it is. With one pair of typical alkaline Duracell batteries it charged my BB about 1/2 way.

Put 2 fully charged NiMH's in it? Was that a trick question? It does run on 2 AA cells correct? If it isn't working on rechargables, make sur ethey are charged and they make contact. Different cell tops don't always work with certain devices. Might not reach the conductive "pad". There is no reason electrically it won't work.

The energizer version needs, iirc, somewhere around 1.37V per cell to start, so try this duracell variant with freshly charged nimh too :)

I wonder about the charger? Is overcharging a problem? Is it worth it to pay extra for a NiMH charger that is smart enough to detect the battery is fully charged?
