While I was in Walmart this a.m., I saw eneloop AA batteries and charger(4AA and 4 slot charger p/n GES MQN05-4) for $19.87. My walmart did not have loose cells or any other options.

Don't want another charger, but cool that Wallyworld will be carrying these cells. I could use another dozen or so.

I heard they were getting them and looked yesterday at one here but nothing yet. Maybe next visit. Thanks for the confirmation Jerry_S.

The guys at HHGregg are starting to look at me funny...after my 5th eneloop purchase to power up my Mag85 they are sure I'm a goof. Glad to hear there will be another place to buy!

The charger that is bundled with the batteries, is it 4-channel and charges each individual battery to 100%? If so, I'll definately pick one up as I'm in need of a good quality AA/AAA charger for an odd number of cells.

If it is the slow charger with the 1 LED and sliding cover, it is an individual cell charger. I just got one. It works pretty well, charges them 1 cell at a time and the cells remain coolish. It is also very slow, taking 7-8 hours to charge AA and 5-6 hours for AAA.

I believe charging current is 150-250 mA for AAA/AA. It works, but is slow and only takes 110/120 V.

I like my Sanyo quick charger better but this one does 4 AAA (the Sanyo only does 2) so it fills the need and is cheap.

Thanks for the heads up, Jerry S. High ho, high ho, it's off to Wally World I go...

I saw those tonight and the white Kodak's with 4 times the shelf life of NiMH's. Anyone have the Kodaks? I'm wondering if they are Eneloops but rebranded.

At the local walmart, I saw Eneloops, but not the ones with chargers. They also had the Rayovac Hybrids and Kodaks. I also made a stop at the local Fry's, and they had eneloops, Uniross Hybrios, and Sony CycleEnergy cells. Looks like the slow discharge cells are becoming more readily available :)

kavikka, I think that is it. Mine is model #NC-MQN05U.

Sanyo has another 4 slot charger in it's kits, but I have not seen that one.

There is a definitely lack of info on the kit chargers (even on the Sanyo site). BTW, I head the Ray-o-Vac Hyrbrid chargers are junk. The batteries are fine, just not the chargers (note, this is based on CPF posts and not personal experience).

My charger is fine, but I almost wished I got the small 2 slot quick charger. It's just smaller and faster. The price was not good for the kit tho...

I checked 3 WalMarts in the Riverside and Orange County areas of Southern California. No Eneloops (or chargers)... I did see some of the Kodaks with 'long shelf life'.

Anybody found any Eneloops in So Cal WalMarts yet???

What were the prices on the eneloop cells?

I picked up the Eneloop 4 independent channel slow-charger/4 AA cells combo at the local Wal*Mart for $19.87. No sign of battery packages only.

Funny thing is, this Wal*Mart just last week moved their battery section, but the Eneloop combo was located out of the way, under a counter, on pegs in the camera section. Not prominently displayed at all.

Distribution takes a couple weeks to different Walmarts I'm sure - I'd expect most to have them within a month. However if Walmart is anything like a large retail chain where I managed a store then different stores have different classifications and not all stores carry all products. So some might carry class B,C,D, and E but only the largest and busiest stores carry class A. If Eneloops are a class A item then they may never get into some stores. But my best guess is that being a AA and AAA battery that they'll show up in all stores most likely.

Can you use the Maha 401 for them?
Yes. Thomas Distributing said it was safe and I have recharged a few of mine with it so far.
