eneloops on ebay

i found some eneloops on ebay and was wondering if they are genuine. i just know someone is making cheap batteries and making their own eneloop labels. tell me what you guys think.

Shipped from China, so good luck on returning them if they are fake. The seller only has 13 sales (some of these Chinese sellers have hundreds or thousands per month). The "Camelion" batteries are the ones I would worry about. 2300 mah is a pretty tall claim for LSD batteries, so either they are probably exaggerating the capacity or they are saying they are LSD when they really aren't (or both! . . . or neither).

The Eneloops probably aren't fake (and I don't think you can tell from the pictures, since it seems to be Eneloop literature), but IMHO you're better off taking advantage of a good sale in a store or online site that you trust than getting in a bidding war for just as much money and having no idea what you are getting. If you want to save money, you could get some LSD brand other than Eneloop and get almost as good performance.

You never know until you buy - and even then it sometimes takes quite some investigative effort to figure out what you actually got.
There are fake eneloops out there. E.g.

If you really want LSD batteries then you can safe money by buying at a reliable source.

An other example: DX sold genuine eneloops and then suddenly had fakes... You're never sure.

Personally, I'd go ahead try it out considering its price. However, as a rule of thumb, if I do purchase it eneloops from eBay, then I try to purchase it from sellers that are not based in China or HK.

From this thread here, a couple of Sanyo reps indicated that the eneloops that I bought from DX and eBay are genuine, despite the fact it looked like that the DX bought cells were fake according to the pictures within that thread. As for the performance of both sets of eneloops; the ones bought from eBay have had a typical self-discharge rate of genuine eneloops two months in (they have yet to be used in anything), whereas the ones from DX I have yet to get any data on them (they're MIA somewhere around the house).

If you didn't send them the actual cells then the Sanyo reps could just take a wild guess. A lot of people have said that the fake DX cells have a high self discharge rate and don't fit very well (bigger than standard AA size).

Camelion are not only crap but even explodes: http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/showpost.php?p=3050935&postcount=1

Doesn't say "Made in Japan", doesn't say "Authentic" and doesn't come with a Sanyo plastic box (says you get a box as an extra if you pay for registered shipping). All signs of fake, but the seller seems new, so who knows...

Anyone remotely interested in the cells should ask for a photo of the actual product that he is selling. But you can get 100% genuine eneloops from other sellers for $13 including shipping, and this sellers auctions seems to end at $10 + $3 shipping anyway so there is no great deal to be made here.

If you have a good charger like the MH-C9000 or BC-9000, then I would buy them at this very good price and test them for the rest of us.

If you can't test the capacity, you'll never know what you've bought. Otherwise, I'd wait until one the big chain outfits has MIJ Duraloops on sale and stock-up.

Seller has 12 whole ratings. I'd just stay away and support Thomas Distributing or similar and get the real-deal without question.

or battery junction. im getting an r5 aaa at the same time.

first im going to try to borrow a costco card and get that 10 for $13 sale (if its even still on) seems silly to drive 20 min to get a deal though. i wish there was a good source for a deal on these but everyone is charging retail. cant we get a group buy together somewhere :)

To tell you the truth I wouldnt buy Enloops on Ebay, there are too many fakes. Duraloops are cheaper and easier to find without worry of Fakes. Alot of times just ask a seller if they will pick out the white tops or serials with 7 or 8 in the beginning.

You'll kick yourself bad if you get FAKE eneloops.

I've never liked the idea of buying Eneloops on eBay. Many of the auctions I've seen use a picture that isn't a photo from the seller or a stock photo from Sanyo, and that raises a red flag in my mind. Also, the prices I've seen for Eneloops on eBay have not been what I consider significantly better than Thomas Distributing or Amazon.

Not everyone is from the US...

I bought and received 8 x AA SANYO ENELOOPS from this eBay seller: http://cgi.ebay.com/8-x-AA-SANYO-EN...emQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item4a9bb90ee4 Q:Fake or Not?

If you got korean packaging from ebattery.co.kr with the Sanyo plastic box then they are genuine.

I buy my eneloops from this Ebay seller (due to them being twice as expensive locally in Australia).

They appear to be real going by the pictures in this thread.

Yep they are genuine, I bought some from him too.

Good point. I could see shipping costs making a significant difference. I never thought of shipping here in the US being a good deal until I read comments from members here in other countries.

I was about to order my Sanyo Eneloops from amazon.com. To get the FREE Super Saver Shipping, I called their Customer Service to see if they would adjust my order and bill me an extra $ .30 to make the total order equal $25.00 (They did this before). This time they refused, so I ordered from eBay and got it for the same price + free shipping.
