There are different tipes of Energizer Lithium cell: Ultimate Lithium (the one with the blue band on it), Advanced Lithium (the one with the blue and yellow bands on it), and Energizer e^2.

Which one are we referring to when we talk about "Energizer Lithium"??

And what are the differences between Ultimate and Advanced Lithium?

Ultimate and Advanced are new. The Ultimate is basically the same as the older, unlabeled brand. Advanced is a cheaper alternative, made to counter the incoming AA lithium primary cells coming into the market since Energizer's patent has just expired.

And here is a pointer to relevant Energizer technical data:

http://data.energizer.com

(First select "Lithium Primary" in the "Product Group" box)
(Then, click on the "data sheet" reference of interest)

This implies that prices will free-fall over the next few years, with the price and supply of lithium being the primary price factor. Does anyone have a guess as to the 'final' price premium of generic lithium cells relative to standard alkaline cells?

so do you think lithim cells' price is going to decrease due to other brands producing them?

Once (assumed) lower priced competition is introduced into the marketplace where Energizer basically holds a monopoly, it has to come down.

How much it comes down will depend entirely on how much the competition charges for their product.

These cells were on sale last week for $6 a pack. Ultimate and Advanced were the same price. I saw no reason to go for the Advanced, it sounds like the Ultimate have almost double the capacity based on the description.

 ops, I always go on fenix-store only because I knew the 2 sites were the same.. my mistake :p

thanks

how many cells does a pack contain? was it a 2 batteries pack or a 4 batteries pack?

why don't fenix-store and 4sevens sale lithium primaries?? in AAA and AA size, for example..

They were actually $4 /4-Pack if you count the $4 in CVS bucks you get back when you purchase 2 packs at $6. This was for the Ultimate.

ok

about the price decreasing, i found 2 other brands that make lithium cells ,if I remember well, they were sony (almost sure, were purple) and an unknown (for me) spanish brand.

Do you think lithiums are going to replace alkaline cells as alkalines replaced zinc-carbon cells?

based on the description and wishes of marketing department - pigs will fly high...

Code:
The Ultimate cell came to 4.257 Wh
The Advanced cell came to 3.815 Wh
So the Advanced cell has 89.6% of the Ultimates power down to 1V with a .5A discharge.

At standard retail price it works out to roughly
Code:
Advanced is 30% cheaper for 10% reduction in performance.
