I was standing inline at my local grocer when I noticed some AA Energizer rechargable on the rack. I'd like to purchase some not for my lights but for my weather radios. Are they any good, how well do they hold up? There are now Enloop cell in my neck of the (Austin,TX)woods.

Personally, the only rechargable AAs I use now are the LSD kind. Eneloop, Rayovac hybrids, and white topped Duracell precharged (rebranded Eneloops). While they don't have as large capacity as other NiMHs on the market, they'll hold a charge all year.

Don't touch the Energizers, many go faulty with super fast self discharge. Stick with Eneloops, plenty of places to order online if you can't buy locally.

I'll leave them on the shelf! But as for Eneloop my local Wal-mart, Fry's nor Radio Shack carries them. I'll have to go online for these cells.

Walmart carries the Duraloops. Just bought some a couple days ago. The term "Duraloops" is what people on CPF refer to the Duracell Rechargeable Pre-Charged 2000 mAh NMH batteries P/N DX1500, UPC 0-4133-16035-1. They have a white seal on the top of the battery surrounding the positive terminal. On the side of the battery look for "Made in Japan".

Duracell also sells another battery where the package looks the same, but on top of the battery the seal is black and on the side of the battery it says "Made in China". These are not the ones you want to get. :thumbsdow Not sure if the part # or the UPC # is the same or not. Will check it the next time I'm at Home Depot.

Is my understanding of the whole Duraloop situation right? Did I miss anything?
