First, some background: I got my everled 5 or 6 months ago. It was to go in my 3-D Cell Mag, the one I grab to look for racoons in back yard. It doubles as a club if necessary.

It has a nice bright beam but I hated the color (very green tint) so I haven't used it much since I bought it. It was my first luxeon, so I was quite disappointed. I expected whighter than white. Even my wife commented on the tint.

I did some beam comparisons last night when I got some Xenon bulbs for my other 3D Mag. The Xenon was quite nice, but I didn't pay much attention to the color of the Everled. Yeah, I get focused like that.

This morning I grabbed the Everleded 3-D to compare the output against a minimag madmax that I had modded. To my suprise, the everled is now white! I'm talking very white. Nothing has changed other than the fact that it's been sitting against a cold outer wall all night, and the batteries are now about 4 months old with 3 or 4 minutes of run time on them.

I felt that my new ARC LSH-S was initially a bit purple, but that went away after 20 minutes of use. I don't know if I just got used to it or if it really improved.

So the question: Do luxeons change color as they age? Do they get whiter?

I have noticed some of my lights appear to be different colors at different times. Most often when using a light in a well lit room during the day the light looks like it has a lot of color in the beam, E2e looks yellow, Everleds look a bit green, Arc-LSs tend toward blue. Then at night in a dark room they all look very white, when used seperatly. If I start comparing them my incandescants all look very yellow and a slight purple tint shows up in my LSH normally very white. I don't think any of the lights are actually changing colors, just our eyes adapting to different lighting conditions.

My white ever-led is as white as the day I got it some 6 months ago. Whiter than my arc ls low dome? or my e1ew/kl1 or my bb400.
all in a dark room agaist white walls.

I know, I'm hooked.

p.s. my cyan ever-led throws a BRIGHT beam as well. looks the same color as when I got it too!

I have an Arc LS second that I thought was somewhat yellow. After shining a fairly green SL 3AA Luxeon tasklight on the wall, the Arc looked pure white, and my Arc LSHP looks slightly violet. I think we have different conceptions of what is white. My Arc LSHP looks neutral white if not compared against any other luxeons.

Would it be possible that the weaker the batteries, the less white the light output will be? I mean, the tints might stand out more on weaker batteries as compared to if you're running it at full brightness, in which the colour rendition might seem brighter/whiter?
