I would love it if somebody made a 2D size lithium ion cell, around 10Ah/3.7V for a Maglite, but I don't think such a thing exists. (right?!)

The next best thing should be an "F" (long D) cell. Batteryspace sells LiFe "F" cells, but they're only 4.5Ah. Does anybody sell regular lithium ion "F" size cells with higher capacity than that?

Saft makes the largest selection of large format, cylindrical lithium-ion cells that I am aware of. See here for all of your big, scary, cylindrical lithium-ion cell needs!

Good luck getting your hands on one of these. They are almost exclusively made for military, space or OEM applications.

A123 was also making a large format cylindrical cell for awhile, but I am not sure if they still are.

Seriously though, an F-size lithium-ion cell is really big and has a lot of energy. I would humbly suggest that lithium-ion cells of that size are probably not appropriate for hobbyists.

Cheers,
BG

Hmmm...I understand that a mystical 2D size, 10Ah, 3.7v lithium ion would be dangerous if used improperly. But would that be more dangerous than a 5Ah, 7.2v pack li-ion that is readily available? It may be worth going with the F size LiFe battery for safety reasons.

I doubt that Saft cells are going to be in my price range or ability to purchase...(unless you know somebody ;) )
("are you building a satellite?" Yeah, sure, whatever you say...:D )

VL52E - 52 amp-hour 3.7v lithium cells? Holy crap. I think I want a few of these bundled together with a magsafe plug at both ends.

Also, their ultra-high-power cells are good for 3.75 pulsed kilowatts per cell, at 3.7*17 centimeters (stretched D cell). Makes me want to go back to designing that railgun rifle I was kicking around back while I was studying mechanical engineering.
