Guys,

Do "Fenix" have a product catalogue?

If so, where do I obtain one from...? I can't seem to find out where, on the fenix website..

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Gary

+1 for the demise of print, but a Fenix catalog would be worth it just for the broken English. More humanized design ceremoniously comes!

OK folks..thanks for the replies/responses...

I asked because I enjoy reading through the Surefire catalogue. You know, sat in the lounge or out back with a beer, flicking through it. There's something more interesting about looking through a paper catalogue and planning your next purchase, than simply looking at on on a screen.
Perhaps I'm old fashioned... :poke:

Thanks again

Is 'humanized design' broken English?
I assumed this was regular, North American advertising blah

Btw. here is your Fenix catalouge: http://www.fenixlight.com/newping.asp
I wouldn't say it's "broken English," but it sure as heck doesn't really mean anything. I mean, "humanized" might be a made up word. It's like saying "carized." Uh... what?

Then again, it might be just managerial marketing gobble-de-gook (that means "gibberish"). A big fancy adjective used to pad a sentence that has no real value to it.

For example: Our latest introductory product has a patent-pending revolutionary power initiation interface, producing dazzling arrays of luminescent projection!

Translation: We have a new, bright light.

+1 I totally agree. I have a laptop and mobile broadband internet and when I'm at an appointment or between meetings it's easier to open and carry a magazine or catalog. Plus I don't always have time to take out the laptop, boot up, log in, then load the site. It's much easier to just open a mag or catalog. This is a huge reason why I'd love a flashlight magazine too.

"humanized" = ergonomic.

here is what I suspect happened, english -> chinese -> english, in other words, someone took the translation of "ergonomic" in chinese and tried to translate it back into english.

I have noticed that poor translations seem to use "charming" instead of aesthetically pleasing. It's amazing how many products coming out of china have "charming shape." I don't understand why they don't just hire an english speaking person to look over their translations and give them at least passable grammar. You can tell that a lot of things like this have never been seen by someone who can actually speak english; otherwise such bizarre errors would not be present.
I have some product manuals that would bewilder ANY decent english speaker.

I can see you have not been to any high schools lately.

slight jokes (somewhat serious too) aside, I would be interested to know if 4Sevens has brought this up with Fenix, if he had and they still persisted in using the same translator, then I guess we are stuck.

True, but have you heard any inner city (and some surbarban) kid use the word "charming" lately?

I agree though, having one person that speaks passable English would be great. I have to assume that translations in other languages are just as butchered...

It's a hoot!

I like printed catalogs too . Get to circle what i want or what i plan to

get, instead of writing down the names and specs from the screen so i dont forget. :thumbsdow

I almost cried when Radio Shack stopped doing their catalog a few years ago. Had one in every bathroom.
