Well, I took the plunge and ordered an L0D. While I am impressed with the brightness, the package had obviously been opened, there were greasy fingerprints all over the flashlight, the beam is yellow in the center and is very ringy. I will not say where I got it at this time (still have to return it)but will say that I am unimpressed so far.

My question is, are your L0D beams also yellow in the center and with lots of rings? If this is normal then I guess I am picky, but I think I have gotten the bottom of the pile on this order...

It is a Q4 which is why I am suprised. I guess there will always be the odd one that is not up to spec. It is not as if the yellow is overpowering, but it is just a splotch in the center of the beam that does annoy me...

Otherwise, the fit and finish, the brightness, and the overall quality of construction seems very good! The finish is flawless. I emailed the retailer and hopefully I can get a new one without too much fuss.

I am actually very new to online shopping, how does it work with returns, will I have to pay shipping etc for the new light?

Generally, you ship the old one back at your expense and they ship a new one at their expense. Occasionally they'll refund your shipping costs, or occassionally they may ask you to pay their shipping costs. (though I avoid websites like that)

sc, it sounds like you were not the first one to be unhappy with that particular LOD. I wouldn't give up yet though, my Q4 has a beautiful white beam with perfect balance (IMO) of throw and spill. I also keep hearing about rings but honestly don't see much in the way of rings with mine. Good luck with the replacement, let us know when you get it!

EDIT: I would also recommend that you use the light for a couple of days while you're waiting. Sometimes we stop seeing things like tint/rings when the light is pointed away from the white wall :D We all catch ourselves white wall hunting :sssh:

Well I contacted the retailer (fenixtactical) and was told that as they are not the manufacturer, and they can not guarantee the beam or variations in color. (I kept their name out of my original post until I heard back from them)

They said I have to pay shipping both ways for a new light.

I think one of the costs of doing business online, seeing as how they are not paying retail storefront rent, which can be hugely expensive up here, is paying shipping on returns.

I will never deal with fenixtactical again. It is fenix-store from now on as I have heard nothing but good things about them.

Sorry to hear about your experience. That's unfortunate for sure and it sure sounds like the light was probably a repackaged return, the least they could have done is clean the fingerprints off'n it.

Don't let that deter you though, the L0D is fantastic light and you can't go wrong with fenix-store, that's where I got mine :). Don't forget the CPF discount, CPF8.

Well I wrote to fenixtactical and let them know that I believe that they should pay shipping on exchanged items. In their defence they have very fast shipping and responded to my original email promptly. However, from what I have read on this forum and on others, there are retailers that will pay for shipping on exchanges and so should fenixtactical. Looks like I am going to be getting my next purchase from fenix-store...

I went with fenixtactical as I am in Canada, are the shipping and duties reasonable from fenix-store to Canadian addresses? Thanks again!

From what I've read, about 9/10 packages get under their radar for duties. Fenix-Store is free worldwide shipping.

Ahh, now that is more like it! Fenix-store here I come, payday is just around the corner and I need lights!!

You would think if the package was clearly opened before you got it, and the light had finger prints all over it, that would be reason enough for the retailer to replace it, at their expense, if they didn't send you a brand new light and there ended up being an issue with it. It sounds like someone else wasn't happy with it, returned it, and then you got it.

I agree, in my original email to them I only complained about the beam and rings, I thought that would be enough for them to make an exchange. I think that you are right that someone else probably returned the light for the same reasons, I will email them again and let them know that.

I don't think that they should need anything more than me not being satisfied with the product to facilitate an exchange though. The beam and rings complaint should be enough for a quality customer service experience.

If I pay shipping to them and back to me for the new light I will have spent over $73 dollars for an L0D...as they charge $10 shipping within Canada. I actually went with them because they are in Canada and I thought shipping would be cheaper than ordering from the US...

I just want to say that I also think that these forums are a very good way for consumers to create the kind of online customer service that used to be the norm many, many years ago in B&M stores. From these forums alone, I have decided to try the fenix-store due to the high level of customer service that is reported by CPF members.

Fenix Store is a good guess but I understand Fenix Tactical about shipping price. Canada Posts prices are not low! It actually cost them between $9 and $12 to ship within Canada as the package is thick enough to be considered as a parcel. In comparison, it costs them ~$7 to ship to USA. And for Fenix Store in USA, it costs him around $1.50 to ship the same L0D to Canada...

Fenix-store is the only place I will buy Fenix products from. They seem to be the authority when it comes to Fenix products, and their service is amazing, and that shows in many of the posts on CPF that praise fenix-store. Also Fenix-store offers a discount for CPF'ers "CPF8"
