Hi folks, newbie here, first post. I have been reading (lurking) for several weeks, just getting a lot of info. Great site, and almost info overload!
I just received my Fenix L1D in the mail, and it's a real neat, powerful light in it's size class. Strangely, the light color is whiter than my Surefire U2. My problem is that I ordered an extra body for it thinking they came with one male and one female end so you could just add it to the existing light to make your L1D into a 2AA light. So, I screwed up a little bit, but is there any other pieces I could buy to fix this, or do I just need to send it back and just buy another, more powerful light?

One other question, just how good is that Amilite Neo T5 light?? Is it really worth it? I have been trying to find lighting that don't use those dang, expensive CR123 batteries....any other recommendations??

My fantasy light would be a Surefire M6 type light with 500 lumens, that would run for 12 days straight.....alas, one can dream of so much light...

You need to send it back and get the L2D body, it's only $.50 more from Fenix-Store(19.00 vs 19.50) . They use the same head, but with the extra power(2aa vs 1) turbo mode goes from 90 to 135 lumens.

You're going to need to buy the L2D body from Fenix store which will make your light work with 2AA cells.

The Amilite T5 is awesome! By far the best CR123 light I have ever seen and one of the best lights in general.

I think everyone dreams of lights but it will be a LONG time before anything of that caliber exists. What I want is a 1AA light that is 150 lumens out the front and runs for 4 hours on a Energizer Lithium. :naughty:

Thanks to everyone for the replies. I see where I went wrong. So then, what is that L1D extra body even used for?? Someone that bought an L2D, so they can make theirs a 1 AA light?? My head hurts...

Exactly, that way you get the choice of either form factor: 1aa smaller, easier to pocket or 2AA brighter, longer run times.

Well hold on to your bicycle seat...you will probably be able to find a body that will make other batteries compatible like cr123, rcr123 etc., but they'll be custom bodies as Fenix doesnt have a history of supplying other than the ones the light was initially designed to take. Lumapower's M3 Transformer comes with all the bodies right up front and the cost reflects it. So, give or take, more or less the price point has been established for any given quality and the newer brighter Crees are enjoying brisk sales activity. Im enjoying mine. Have fun.

Fenix-store will supposedly start selling the 1AA and 2AA bodies as separate items pretty soon, once there are enough to go around. If you have the L1D you'd add the 2AA body and then you have both bodies and the flexibility of switching between them.

Yeah, cause they already do. See he bought an extra body. He just chose the wrong one.

I've had my 1AA body for over two days now...

Amilite Neo T5=good. 'Nuff said. Well, actually, apparently some people have had problems with the SSC LED turning brown and then not functioning properly after about a month. I do hope these are just isolated incidents, because that would be an easy way to screw up this seemingly perfect light. I love it. It has a nice, smooth beam, a great flood, amazing brightness, good finish and aesthetics, and it feels good in my hand. My only problem so far is that the reflector is a bit loose in the head, and may need a little bit of adjustment. Ok, I guees it wasn't 'nuff said after all. Anyways, if you want a great little pocket flooder, get it. You won't regret it.

Yes, and I have an L2D that I would love to put an L1D body on. I am interested in buying your L1D body. PM me please.

The bodies work either way, you can turn an L1D into a L2D and L2D into a L1D
