Fenix L1DCE comes on at Med

I just rec'd a new Fenix L1Dce, and I like the form and UI just fine.

BUT -- when the light is first turned on, with a full click, it flashes higher than the stated "Low" (initial) setting, and then sometimes settles on "Low" and sometimes settles on "Med".

Anyone had this problem/experience?

Is it my ineptness, or is this a malfunction?

It appears that your L1D suffers from a rather usual Fenix disease: dirty contacts. You should clean very well all the threads (especially the non-anodized ones) and contacts with a cotton rag and some alcohol. In case the rag becomes very dirty repeat the operation.
Then put a thin layer of silicone based grease on the threads and o-rings.

I am pretty sure you will see a definite improvement. For the record my own L1D CE started working correctly only after the third cleaning......

FYI - I have cleaned the threads on two lights, ad used them each quite a bit -- they both still evidence a flicker or flash when first clicked ON.

Is this a flaw or just normal behavior?

I've heard the newer ones have fixed this problem but yes, it seems to be normal.

The flash is unfortunately normal and in the brand new L2D Q5 it still exist, so the problem is not fix yet.
