Re: Debating Fenix LD20 versus Olight T25

No. Fenix is mixed clicky and twisty. Loosened head - click between low-med-high-SOS, tightened head - click between turbo and strobe.
Olight is twisty only.

Personnaly, I preffer the Fenix UI. At first I thought that the memory function of the Olight UI is a good idea, because the T10 starts at medium and my wife, who has it for the moment, needs low at night. The con is, that if you want to change, you always have to pass each mode, including SOS and strobe.

So, for my use, I like the lights starting at low, so I can click them higher until I reach what I need. A little twist gives me turbo right away and if I let it tightended, it will start on turbo again. If I need lower output, I can let if off 2 seconds and start on low again to avoid passing high and/or SOS. The con is, I don't like heads that are not tightened...

2 days ago I considered changing the P2D CE for the T10, my wife would have had to agree (), but thinking twice I kept the Fenix to backup the L2D Q5...

Re: Debating Fenix LD20 versus Olight T25

I have good memory and I prefer flashlights that start at previously used mode (no memory is annoying). Like Olights! T10 starts at the mode your wife used to use! Current T10 doesn't have Strobe/SOS activated like modes so you won't pass through them.

Re: Debating Fenix LD20 versus Olight T25

Well I decided to go with the Olight. I like how Fenix starts in low output and goes higher since I use low the most, but it really bothers me how the head isn't tighetened. So I'll try the Olight to see if I like that UI better. Thanks for the info guys!

As it seems, you are right, the SOS and the strobe are selected by clicky... :candle:

I nearly never used it, as my wife has it, but the M20 works the way I described and it drove me mad when I had to step down using it "in the field"! :sick2:

Re: Debating Fenix LD20 versus Olight T25

I know what you mean. I had M20 Premium and strobing 250lm are very unpleasant...

Re: Debating Fenix LD20 versus Olight T25

Hey guys I was in the market for a 2AA and I've narrowed it down to either the Fenxi LD20 or the Olight T25. I was thinking of using them for pretty much everything from daily use, camping/hiking, walking the dog, and (hopefully not) emergencies.

Right now I think I'm leaning towards the Olight T25, but I haven't really heard any opinions on them on reliability, build, etc. Plus Olight is more expensive, though it has more features.

Any thoughts or opinions?

I don't have the Olight. I have the LD20. the UI of the LD20 is very simple. if you want to use the Turbo Mode make sure that the head is twisted clockwise until tight and then you click it on. if you want to use the lower lumens/setting just twist counterclockwise and on the first click it is on the lowest settings, click on-off it is on the second brightest setting. another click on-off it is on the turbo-mode, another click on-off then it is on the SOS. very simple and effective. also uses 2xAA batteries (easily available in any store carrying batteries)

go for the LD20 you won't regret it.

Re: Debating Fenix LD20 versus Olight T25

I have an L2D and Olight T25-t. In those forms I favor the Olight (can't tail stand, but much nicer clicky), but the P2D body enabling me to use it (L2D) as a single CR123 maybe tips the balance toward the Fenix.

How do you find the UI on the Olight? I'm considering either Fenix L1T V2 or the T-25 T, but the fact you have to pass through strobe everytime you want to go from medium to low would annoy me I think. How easy/quick is it to go through the levels on the Olight?

Re: Debating Fenix LD20 versus Olight T25

I like the Olight's UI. Basically it's low, med, high, strobe, SOS and it remembers the last mode you used. You change by slightly loosening then tightening the head, and the mode changing is as fast as you can do that. Although some say it's a 2 handed operation, the head (on mine at least) moves very easily, and I have no problem changing modes with one hand.

Re: Debating Fenix LD20 versus Olight T25

I think the UI on the Olight is fairly easy. It can all be done one handed, especially with the tactical version (clicky switch sticks out more).

From an underhand hold:

1. Turn on the light by hitting the switch on your chest, hip, forehead, someone else's forehead :P, table, wall, etc.

2. Use index finger and thumb to slightly loosen and tighten the head to go thru all the modes.

I assume that the head twists a lot easier than the L2D? Either that or you have gorilla hands

I find the L2D takes 2 hands to twist the head.

Yes it is. I do find the L2D/P2D a 2 handed job.

Re: Debating Fenix LD20 versus Olight T25

Thanks Zatoichi, it also doesn't help that the L2D's head does not have adequate knurling IMHO.

I agree. As much as I like it, it can be slippery and awkward at times.

At first the T25 was hard to twist, but after cleaning the threads and re-lubing it with Nyogel 760G, it's been REALLY easy to twist with one hand.

I got the same results with my Olight M20 - after using some 760G, I can operate it one-handed as well.

Re: Debating Fenix LD20 versus Olight T25

Anyone have both the T25 and the Eagletac 2AA? I'm curious which is the better thrower on high.

Once again thanks for the replies. Now my search may include the D20 as well. Too many choices out there but sounds like the LD20 is a good choice!
Thanks again
Greg

Got the LD20 last week, i am happy and very satisfied with the build/quality/led bulb/brightness/price and this is what i call, Bang for your Buck!

you won't regret it.

i have no Olight experience. what i have right now is the LD20 which i bought last week from a reliable supplier here. i am very happy and satisfied with the LD20 in terms of build/quality/LED brightness and everything about it. come to think of it, i have surefires to compare it with. it will give surefire a run for its money. but of course you can never really compare it with surefires. this is a torch that i will call Bang for your Buck! go for it! you won't regret it.

I have recently Purchased the LD20 and this light is Awesome. (highly recommended from this forum:))

After using it for a few days all the modes are second nature and quick to navigate through.
As far as the memory function I prefer knowing where the light starts off every time versus guessing what was the last setting I was using on the light.

This light is slick! but it has grip in all the right places. as far as the head is concerned it has a big nut at the base that provides plenty of grip with one hand or two. And still currently the Head is still turning very stiff which I like. I have some other lights that have already become loose at the head just from normal pocket carry. (Maglite xl 100)

All in all between this light, my big big 3D LED Mag lights and my single aaa Coast led lights I am hesitant to get other lights due to the awesome performance of the LD20.
