Can anyone tell me if Fenix is currently making their lights upgradable???

Specially, I wish to swap out the spot xhp50 for a high cri hp50..3 hi in my brand new Fenix hp30 r v2 head lamp.

I wish to do this asap, but wisdom and caution says to seek advice or pay someone who has more tools and possibly the led lying around. I am the North east ohio, western PA, easy striking range by car.

Again, does Fenix make their lights easy to upgrade?

I am going to attach a photo of the 4 screws. Fenixlighting in Colorado says that my warranty is voided if I remove them, but that wasn't my question, which they would not answer.

Easiest mod is to just buy what you need/want to begin with that way you know what the specs should/will be, haven't compromised the IPxx rating & you still have a full warranty. Plus their are much cheaper lights to use if you want to develop this skill

I am attaching photos of the what is behind the 4 screws, as deep as I feel comfortable going.

It takes a t 6, nice o rings on each screw. A nice shaped big o ring that too patience getting back in the groove. Some weird spring that is loose in one of pictures. A beefy heat slug covered by thermal putty, which I lifted up the edge for the picture and patted back down. I am measuring the reflector as only 33 mm diameter, with a cheap metal ruler.

I called Digi-Key sales, and it looks like they are now stocking most of the parts I would need to build my own headlamp. My biggest difficulty was finding reflectors that I would shape the beam correctly, a real pain when you have lux per watt specifications to meet but not exceed.

Digi-Key only sells the bare xhp50.3 or xhp50 emitters (xhp50.3 are high cri?) and their stars say Cree xre which I haven't researched.

Getting deeper into this Fenix hp30r v2v light to swap the led looks difficult and risky. On the plus side I could just use the existing star and just buy a bare xph50.3.

+1 what 3_gun indicates.

My experience with other Fenix models ( I don't have the HP30r) is that they're well sealed and not easiest to swap emitters.

Any light I mod and sell I always highlight to buyers that warrantees may no longer apply.
