Fenix TK11 R2

when i recived mine it doesnt have a smooth reflector like stated in the listing. has anyone got a tk11 r2 with the smooth reflector? and, is it something i should be botherd about?

Nope.... dont worry at all. It is the new version of the Fenix TK11 R2. I guess Fenix received some number of complaints :poke: about the prominence of the cree rings :shakehead in the original TK11 and the R2.... so they switched out the reflector for a hybrid in an attempt to correct it.

Mine has it too...

I have a TK11 R2 with smooth reflector that I bought about 5 months ago. I can verify that the beam is very ringy. But it's not a problem when using it outside.

My TK-11 R2 is OP reflector (new batch ?), the texture looks better than TK-10. My TK-11 R2 OP throw less than Jetbeam III M R2 and RRT-2.
Good flashlight, solid and very bright, you'll love it.

Just like bobber, I’ve just taken delivery of the latest TK11 R2 with an orange peel reflector. Even the distributor in the UK hadn’t realized the change until I pointed it out and just put it down to a design improvement.

This wasn’t exactly what I wanted to hear because I bought this particular Fenix to achieve a slightly better throw. Now I don’t know whether to send it back or keep it. Has anyone done a side by side test to say how much reduced throw this new reflector gives?

First time poster here. I recently got a TK11 R2 with "TK11 Premium R2" marking on the head of the Flashlight. It was my first decent flashlight and i'm very happy with it. With the current topic on reflectors, can someone confirm which reflector is on my Tk11?

It's OP reflector (just like mine).
The textures of OP reflector on TK-11 R2 look better TK-10.
I did test the throw, not too bad.
(less than my Jetbeam III M R2).
In general, TK-11 R2 very solid and good flashlight, you'll love it.

I also have the OP TK11 R2. (I was not aware there was a smooth reflector) this light recently got a very heavy workout when I had to navigate with a team (8 teenage girls & 2 adults) down some extremely difficult features during a night move :caution:. Whilst I had other illumination (Petzl XP Tactica) The TK11 R2 was my only means of making distance illuminated observations :candle: to find a suitable (albeit still challenging) route down and off the feature .
An excellent combo of throw plus flood for a challenging situation.
Any more challenging and I would have spent the night on the hill which may have been an option had I not had a suitable "thrower" with me :ohgeez:

I will never venture into the wilderness nowadays without a good "Thrower".
The TK11 R2 is a good compromise in a single cell (Smaller) light :thumbsup:
My Olight M30 is just a tad too big (even with 2x18500) to carry with all my other equipment when backpacking.
I might take my Olight M20 R2 (that I know I am getting for Xmas in the current gift set :sssh: ) as a replacement for the TK11 R2 but from the quick play I did with it before wifey wrapped it for under the tree I would say they are both in the same league (M20 & TK11).
Using the TK11 R2 as my primary night navigation light and back up SAR, I only replaced the 18650 once during the 8 days I was in the field. Probably about 6 hours total use with at least 3+ hours on high overall. Mostly used for average of 3-4 mins at a time. Second Batt still going strong when I got home. I think short duration high power shots assist with longevity of the Batt (not letting them get too hot?).

To answer the question (sorry I did not mean to give a review) I think the OP reflector is just dandy :)

Purchased my TK11 R2 several months ago, in August. It has the smooth reflector. I can't compare it to another TK11 with OP but mine is a real thrower. Has a tight hot spot and the trademark cree rings. I like it but think most people would find a OP reflector, with more spill, better suited for general flashlight duties.

I got one with the smooth reflector, but can't compare it either. I gues I got lucky and have a very well assembled one, as I only have 1 very thin ring on my beam profile! I love my TK11!

I just received my TK11 R2 today from UPS. The textured reflector does eliminate the ringy spot. i compare it to my T20C2 and it looks a lot better. The T20C2 has a ringy spot around if you put it up real close to a white wall. I can't compare it to the smooth reflector since the flashlight was lost a while back but I will test it next to my regular TK11 tonight and see what is the difference. I will assume with a far shot you can't see the ringy around it but only up close. Anyways.. I'm glad to have my R2 back!:twothumbs forgot to add..it sucks because it didn't come with the middle ring piece so you can replace it with the cigar ring.
