Hi,
I received my TK20 and am impressed with its beam and throw....especially for an AA light. I was WORRIED that the beam would be too brown....but it is simply a warm white. There are a couple of decent threads/reviews on the light all ready, so I thought I would just post some outdoor beamshots with some other semi thrower lights for comparrison. First the lights:
Olight's M20 R2 , The Fenix TK20, Raidfire Spear
As you can see... the TK20 is not a small light. It is almost as ling as the Spear. Like the Spear, it will tail stand.
The lights are made to be simi-decent throwers...except for the Spear - which is a dedicated thrower... but since mine came with only the OP reflector, I am including it in the simi-decent class.
Here is a picture of the bezels of the lights. Again, the M20 and TK10 have smooth reflectors...the Spear has a OP.
OK, for some beamshots:
The fence in these first shots is 15 yards away. The Camera is locked at f/2.8 at 2". Iso is 64...WB is daylight.
The Olight M20 Premium Smooth Reflector
The TK20
The Spear (OP)
I really like the wide spillbeam of the TK20
Here are some longer range beamshots: Camera settings are the same and the tree is aprox 50 yards away.
Fenix T1 (OP)
Olight M20 (OP)
Olight M20 (SMO)
Fenix TK20
Raidfire Spear (OP)
So, as you can see.... The Spear, even with the OP reflector is still the best thrower in this group. But, the TK20 did at least (and I actually think a little better) as good in throw as the Fenix T1. When considering that the Fenix T1 is running on 2x 123a 3 volt batts and the TK20 is on 2x 1.2v enerloops with the same runtime... it is extra impressive to me. Also...the smooth reflector does help the Olight M20 throw...but it is not bad with the OP reflector either.
Overall I am impressed with the TK20. It is bright...solid feeling, and throws very well for an AA light. It also (unlike the Olight) has a perfectly centered hotspot. Good job Fenix!
