Sorry if someone posted this already, but I sure couldn't find it...

4sevens is taking preorders for the TK40. It will be shipping on 03-02-09 and is $155. Specs will be posted on that site in mid Feb.

wheres this info coming from, link...any spec sheets

Why would anyone need to pre-order this? It's not a limited edition, it's HUGE and runs on 4AA batts which means even less people will want it. Plus, Fenix makes lights in huge runs anyway, I doubt there's any chance of these selling out.

Some people just like to buy lights early before they are out for normal sale(sometime it's cheaper, sometime it ships quicker, some just like to have them ASAP).

I also thought they used 8AAs.

I think this might be more of a "look what we can do" type light and a light for people who want lots of output, but that's just my opinion. Looking forward to reviews of the light.

The $155 could be a pre-order special. If the prices happened to increase anyone who bought it at 155 could have it locked in.

If tons of people buy it from 4sevens and deplete their stock, the pre-order people will be ahead of the game. It's not a matter of Fenix not producing enough, it's 4sevens having enough of those produced.

Also, where is this 4 AA info coming from? Everything else, including the video of it, say it's 8 AA.

No need to pre-order a Fenix, always plentiful.

My experience is the early bird gets the defects. :duh2:

I'm interested in it. 8AA is a good power source for interoperability with other lights. The size isn't too bad, as it's not intended as an EDC. The PT Surge is a great little light, runs on 8AA and is about the size of a traditional plastic 2D light but shorter. The TK40 is about 4x-5x brighter.

ah, beat me to it. from my time on here, preorders offer nothing but to be the guinea pigs for the 2nd revised version. i think fenix are better than some other companies though. they seem to be slow which gives me the impressiion that they do a little more r&d. so really it's for the more impulsive type person, these preorders
the only time i saw preorders pay off was the nitecore ndi when it first came out and was much cheaper for the first ppl.
me personally i like to wait for a full review. :twothumbs

Lots of us informed buyers are perfectly aware of the many 18650-powered P7/MCE lights that already exist, but have been waiting for an AA model like the Tk40.
