Fenix TK75 - Good Choice?

Well, after shopping around for the past few weeks, I finally decided on the Fenix TK75 - the 2900 lumen one. They were going for around $199.00 everywhere & a couple of days ago, Battery Junction had them for $149.96. I also got some "Orbtronic" batteries and an Orbtronic charger. I hope I got a decent deal. I have a TK45 & I'm happy with it but I wanted more light than it puts out & I need lots of flood in the beam. Hope I made the right choice. I have one concern: I've never used that type of battery. I wonder how long it takes to charge those 18650 batteries - is it similar to charging the AA's the TK45 takes (around 2-3 hrs)?

I don't know what I'll use that "Safety Belt" for, but it comes with the flashlight.

You got a sweet deal on that one :)
18650 batteries can be charge at 1A. So charging will take 2-3 hours. It is quite a big light, but it will blow your mind when you see it at night ;)
 
You can't go wrong with a TK75, and you got it for a good price too. Although Battery Junction is a reliable dealer, check to see if you got the 2900 lumen XM-L2 U2 version. The area surrounding the LED should be silver, the older XM-L U2 LED's are green. Orbtronics are excellent Panasonic based batteries. If you got the higher capacity ones (3100 and up) it could take a while to fully charge them. If I were to be picky and find a fault with the light, it would be these 2 things. I wish Fenix would offer a neutral tint option, and the beam has a petal pattern on the outer fringes of the spill. Other than that, everything else with the light is fine with me.

It did specifically say 2900 Lumens on the display and in my e-mail confirming my order, but thanks for the info about the silver surrounding the LED. I'll be checking that when it arrives. I figured it would have a petal pattern on the outer edge when I saw the front view of the light. As long as there are no dark rings in the spot or the spill, I'll be happy.
 
If I could only have one "larger" flashlight, it would be the TK75 with two extensions for "extreme" emergencies.
 
I looked at Battery Junction when I bought mine, and their site shows 2600 lumens and is $199.95. I ended up buying the 2900 lumens on B&H for $169.95. We'll see what I get.
 
The package for the runtime kit say not to use more than three kits on one TK75 at a time. Does this mean you can run a total of four tubes (the original plus three kits)? I have two runtime kits and was wondering if I would be alright if I bought one more.
 
can you mix the Nitecore NL189 3400mAh 18650 and the panasonic ncr18650b

The light has pretty good throw. You don't need to add a long handle to it to get the led closer to what you are trying to see.

Just carry spare cells instead of making the light really really long and heavy.

I agree with TEEJ, this light is best used in it's stock configuration and supplied with a new set of cells or battery pack when needed.

With regards to the maximum number of tubes, I would never use more than two tubes (total) regardless of what Fenix says.
 
Good deal. I got my tk75 2600lm for 200 with bats. I wish I new there was the 2900 coming out.

I believe it is one of the many lights people should have. In my list I would get it as a number two after you have a good AA like the ld41. Hope you enjoy I have blinded people in my backyard that shouldnt be soo close to the house... (lake lot)
 
I just ordered the 2900lm TK75 and one ext runtime kit from B&H for 199$... I also ordered six, 3.7V 3400mAh NCR18650B Protected Rechargeable Lithium Battery 2 packs from Wallbuys.

I can't wait to play with this monster... I figure I'll label six batt's and just use them in this light. Hopefully my WP6 II can keep up.. Lol..
