I saw a demo of that stuff a few months ago. It's pretty neat and is yet another nail in the coffin of EL backlights. They can do some neat stuff with the abrasion patterns on the fibers to best manipulate how the light is emitted so you can accentuate a logo on a control panel or keep a section dark for whatever reason.

It's great for membrane switches and LCDs. It's not all that useful for area lighting or anything needing multiple lumens - although the rep I spoke to about it said that you can couple to Luxeons and the like if you really want to.
