Finally Acquired a Z3!

Up here in Pennsylvania at the Valley Forge Gun Show, I finally found a Z3. It's nice! Also surprised the guy who had Butler Creek scope caps when I asked him for one for my light. The guy bellowed across the counter, "JUST TELL ME WHAT KIND OF SCOPE IT IS" and I fished the Z3 out of my jacket. he took a look at it and told his assistant what size, he cracked open the package and fitted it on for me. Sadly, I didn't realize it was a Lexan lens bezel until I was playing with it after I bought it (would've tried to haggle a little), but since I swapped the bezel on my C2 for a Z32 SIB, I put the original pyrex bezel on the new Z3. Price at the table was $85, which I snapped up in a second. AND...since it was his demo model, he threw in a fresh set of batteries (in addition to the 3 in the light that are still going strong).

Stopped over my in-laws and was fooling around with my light. Got the thermometer on the backdoor to rise a couple of degrees just by hitting it with the light /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif Freaked out the monther-in-law /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Tony, yeah 18th/19th.

Oh man, the stuff they had... got to fondle an SFM6, A2, E2e. Surefire lights always get me because no matter what model, it always seems lighter and smaller in person than they do in catalogs and on the web. The A2 is quite the cool little versatile tactical light.

Nice find - I hope to one day track one down, too.

As far as I remember the Z-series has lexan lense back then so that's normal.

There is a Z3 from ombu as well; rather cheap and
interesting, because its compatible to SF ...

Ombu Z3? Google doesn't give anything remotely resembling flashlights when I enter that. Do you have a link?

Incidentally, a guy at the gunshow who was selling Streamlight Scorpions had an old-school SF 6P in his display as part of a rail-mount. Non-hex round bezel, lexan lens, probably non-lotc. My flashaholic spidey senses flickered and I asked him how much. He handed me the Scorpion and started talking it up and I said "No, for that Surefire." He was truly puzzled why I was interested in the ancient artifact and not the bright new rubber-coated clickie gizmo. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif He said "Well, maybe $45, but I don't really want to sell it." I was still glowing from finding a Z3, so I didn't push it and went on my way. Would've been a good addition to my Surefires though. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I know I'm in a minority here, but I still think the Z3 is one of Surefire's best lights. (Relatively) cheap, light, pocketable and ready for use with a handgun...

I like HA3 as much as the next fella, but the premium for the C3 or M3 models aren't worth it, IMHO. Z3 is a great light!

I like both the looks and performance of the SRTH on the Z3.

I've got to agree. It's a neat package. One of the first ones that really caught my eye. Yes, HA is a tougher finish, but I just prefer the all black look /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Oh I'm sure I was all cool when I saw it on the guy's table at the gun show.

I felt all old school picking the Z3 over the plethora of HA E-body lights there. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I really like the combat body style and the 3-cell output. I always said I'd be done with lights if I had a C2 and a Z3, but of course that's never the case. It just fuels the need for more!!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Picked up a new bezel with pyrex.
Paid $75.00 for the light with 2 spare carriers and 2 P90 lamps with lanyard.
When it arrived the spare carriers had 6 new Cr123 batteries in each also. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/happy14.gif

Mine is really clean and serial number A200

I love it when I score big
