Finally got off the fence.....

i'm using this as backup to my E2e and for close up work. i'm looking forward to taking it night fishing to preserve night vision.

forgot to add, it was a tough decision cause dan has LSH'P's in stock too! but the pyrex lens, ability to clip the E1e to my hat(nightfishing) and value won out.

I think it is going to be too bright to preserve your night vision. But I bet it will make a handy task light for working on things close up.

I love my Arc LSH-P (coincidentally also from Dan) but the KL1 might be nicer for you since you already carry an E2e. You can slap that KL1 on the E2e for a nice long runtime.

You should have considered an L1 for your intented application. I got mine from Dan and love it! The low setting is perfect for tying knots, rummaging thru boats, and locating needle nose plyers. You also have the high setting, which is equivilant to the KL1+E1e. The LSH-S or LSH-P would yield same results as the E1e+KL1 as far as negating night vision.

I also bought a KL1/(but)E2e combo from Dan at TW. A great TW special that saved me some major $$ since I don't need another bright 60lu equipped bezel/LA... it was the long runtime and 17lu of light that I needed.

I'm completely fascinated by LEDs now ever since buying my SF A2. And I completely agree - that clip does make for some handy use in positioning the light for your needs.

i did consider the L1, but went with the smaller light.

tkl, if it turns out to be too bright to preserve your night vision, you could always put a beamshaper or red filter on the KL1.

Surefire lists the E1e for 15 lumens and the KL1+E1e for 16 lumens. Why would you choose the option which costs you approximately $40.00 more(E1e+KL1) if you did not want to compromise your night vision????

i'm using my E2e now, so going from 60lu to 16lu is a big step down. when night fishing i'm by some form of light, be it lantern or dock light, 16lu will not affect anything.

I'm sorry about getting off topic but you said night fishing and when it comes to night fishing my laser rods rock.
tkl, I make something you have to see for yourself. If you are anywhere near Wylie Texas email or PM me and I can hook you up with a guy that has one of my laser fishing rods in that area of Texas.
No worries about loosing night vision with my rods and besides that the rods I build indicate when a fish takes the bait. Another cool thing about the rods I build is they will illuminate for over 48 hours with the use of just two AAA batteries. Rechargeables are fine. Stop by my website sometime and look around, you might like what you see.
Sorry if I sound like some kind of post spammer but I thought I would let you know about my fishing rods as you had mentioned night fishing and as far as I am concerned nothing can touch my rods when it comes to visual bite indication while night fishing.
If it is knots in line and dealing with fishing line at night just get some fluorescent fishing line and use a ultra violet single led flashlight. No loss of night vision at all.

I didn't mean to start any probs with my night vision comment. I simply was wondering if tkl knew how bright that little KL1 sucker can be (and actually I think he was completely aware).

So for gosh sakes, don't use my innocent comment to start/continue what could be one of the most ridiculous disagreements in CPF history.

No nitpicking; it doesn't take a genius to realize that when one sits next to a lantern or dock light, ones night vision has already been compromised. Members were simply trying to inform you that your choice would most likely impair that which you sought to maintain. This was an attempt at a positive post to provide you with some useful info. Why waste lithium batteries when you are next to a lantern?

not members, just YOU. you also didn't answer the question, which i expected.

obviously you haven't fished in the dark before or you would understand the need for a bright and low output light.
