Hey everyone I'm new to CPF and am looking for my first "good" flashlight. I'm looking for a high quality LED Light with a lot of firepower. Not to big but not to small. I want to get the best I can get for under 100$. I know many if y'all can relate that if I want to buy something I want it to be one of the best otherwise I won't be completely satisfied! I have looked at many 4sevens and Fenix lights like the Ta20, ld20, Quark aa2, and many others from those two brands. I am very open to suggestions!
Thankyou!

there is no best light, flashlights are made for specific ranges, and uses,
the best light at 10 feet tends to be useless at 100...

for general use the LD20 is still my favorite, the LD22 might be a better option, and if you want to look at stuff 100+ feet away
an E25 or E21 might be better options still

...but then I'm a fenix kinda guy, so they are all good to me ;)

I agree - there's only a best flashlight for YOU. All depends on your priorities.

Full disclosure, I'm a Foursevens guy, but I've read enough here to get a feel for Fenix. The way I see it, the two companies seem have very different philosophies.

Fenix puts more money into initial build quality while 47s puts more into warranty and customer service. Fenix builds narrower voltage tolerance drivers that are more efficient while 47s goes with wider voltage tolerance drivers that are more battery versatile. Fenix's runtimes are generally going to be longer, for any matching lumen level and battery, but 47s will ultimately have the longest runtime with its super low moonlight mode.

I personally went with 47s for the moonlight mode (or other lower lows), the warranty, and the battery lego-ability.

Pick your poison, but I think you'd be very happy with either brand.

As stated above, there is no "perfect" flashlight.. Do what I did a couple years ago as a newbie, and just start reading on here.. You'll figure it out!

My first real "good" light was a Sunwayman V10R. Takes a single CR123 batt, awesome user interface, and has been a flawless pocket light from day one. It gets used daily. If I have a complaint, it is that since I use the high mode most of the time, it burns thru a battery fairly quickly....2-3 weeks. At less than 80 bucks, the quality is top notch.. I plan on owning other Sunwayman lights.

I've purchased a couple Fenix lights, a few Klarus lights.. my current fave is the Armytek Predator. Killer quality, flawless beam, and an excellent thrower. It takes a pair of CR123's, and seems to last a bit longer. At a mere 19 bucks over your budget, it's definitely one to consider. I believe the new Viking has the same output, but without all the fancy progamming, and it's like 30 bucks less.

Good luck! All I can say, is don't worry about making the first one the "perfect" light, cause after you buy one.... you're gonna want to buy more.

Trust me on this one. :grin2:

There are a lot of good options under $100, the flashlight recommendation checklist might help narrow down the selection.

What kind of batteries? How much throw? Runtime? Modes? Special preferences (clips, etc)?

:welcome:

Thank you for the replies! The ArmyTek Predator does look pretty sweet! Its a hard decision cause theres so many I want to buy:grin2:! I do love a bright concentrated beam. A pocket clip isnt a huge deal to me though. I'm going to buy one now then ask for another for Christmas, maybe even 2 ;)

I am also new to CPF/quality lights and am looking for recommendations on a first purchase. Found this thread very helpful!

I carry Armytek predator 670 lumens and price is about $110. I think it is not high price for well made and multifunctional flashlight. I prefer to invest my money in a quality product that I know is bomb proof and will work every time I need it.People should be less worried about cost and more worried about value.

Predator G2 for tight distance beam......or if you don't need a light you can program check out their Viking model.

I'm also new to CPF but not new to flashlights. Fenix TK-15 is a great place to start.

The Armytek Predator XP-G2 is an excellent choice. I too like a concentrated beam and I am tempted to buy another one :grin2:
