First LS Light To Buy

I know, I know, I'm almost ashamed to admit it has taken me so long, but I'm now ready to take the plunge into the brave new world of 21st century lighting!

Here's what I have: Opalec'd Mag, tons of Photons, couple of Arc AAAs, couple of junky single LED lights.

Here's what I want: Something that has more power and throw than the Opalec, not too huge, and preferably runs on AA batteries.

Man, I want a McLux. This is the light that has me finally considering a +$100 flashlight (which is truely insane, but

) I know it misses on a few of the wants above, but it's so sexy. I think the sensible thing to do is to buy a Madmax and some optic goodies and trick out another Mag; this would cover all the bases, right?

What should I do? I'm really in quite a spot about this, and I'd appreciate any advice y'all might have.

According to your criteria maybe a bb500 or even mm400 from dat2zip. Mr. Bulk's LGI uses AA. Arc ls w/ aa battery tube. All are great lights.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">The MadMax gets my vote because you can perfectly adjust for the brightness that you'd like vs. battery running time.

Thanks to all the encouragement, I just ordered a MM and stuff from dat2zip's! I think this is the most efficient way to get into the game, if not the sexiest

i turned the adjustable disc about 3 revolutions and it still seems to be the same brightness. how far do i have to turn this thing?

I would say BB or MM, but for a complete light, I'ld recommend the Reactor 3. Very tough, bright light. TX

Well, the pressure of the final minutes of McLux sale time got to me

I can't afford to listen to you guys and all the "Elektrolumens are great! Gotta have a LGI! What, you don't have an Arc LS??" talk. I'm in the doghouse as it is!

Don't worry, Elektrolumens is cooking up something to be followed by a 5 watt McLux. The Mega LGI is coming and Inretech will be putting out a multiple eyeball nuker.
