Anyone have any experience with tailcap switches in the L2P?
I recently received my first SolarForce light - got the Blue HA-III L2P. Added a flat SS bezel. What a lovely light.
The tail bezel is a little tight for my giant thumb. It takes concerted effort to turn it on, and occasionally I couldn't do it with my left (weak) hand.
I looked at crenelated bezels, but none of them match the blue. So, I made my own!
I meant to snap a photo, but my wife seems to have snagged the camera.
Regardless, I removed the switch from the tailcap, used a 1" dia stone wheel on my drill, and ground 3 crenelations into the tail bezel. Now I can reach the switch easily.
Here's my dilemma:
As you are probably aware, the L2P tailstands, but it's a bit wobbly because the boot is as tall as the bezel.
I saw some posts where people put an O-Ring on the top of their switch boot to make it work with a McClicky.
I have a McClicky on the way (intended for a SureFire 6P.)
So, should I install the McClicky in my L2P with the O-Ring, and put the L2P forward-clicky in the 6P?
Could I use the same O-Ring with the original L2P Forward clicky to pull the boot down into the tailcap slightly?
I'm going to pick up the 10mm washer and 16mm O-Ring just in case; I would prefer to just install once.

Found the camera. Sorry about the blurriness...

Thanks for looking, and any help/experience you can offer.

Well , you went for the blue one , Solarforce has plenty of clickies to chose from , S3 and up ... but there all black , you probably would like the S3 [ maybe ] , or you may wish to buy a L2T and see how you feel about the forward clicky on it .

Is tailstanding all important ?

Actually, I got the L2T, as well.
I'm planning to use it on my Mtn. Bike. I like the clicky on it fine.

The L2P is probably going to be my go-to evening walk light, meaning it'll wind up being my nightstand light between uses. So, yes, tailstanding is a fairly important part of its life.
I picked up washers and o-rings today, and my McClicky just came in the mail, too.
Unless anyone has other suggestions, I think I'll put the McC in the 6P, and put the stock forward-click switch back in the L2P, with a couple tweaks, and see how it goes.
Thanks.

The L2i tailstands perfectly and runs well on a single 18650 and will take any standard drop-in ... mine are my favourite Solarforces ... I use the plain stainless bezels and the torches fit nicely into a jacket pocket ... I find that the crenelated bezels can cause damage to the material in coat pockets ... I use my Solarforces on low mode normally and they are just a "click" away from the high mode if it is needed ... I prefer the L2i to the ordinary L2's and to the too-skinny L2r's ... My L2i's are in the gorgeous gold colour ... All mine have the reverse clicky fitted and I don't find that a problem particularly when changing modes.

Thanks March.
All I see are black L2i's on the site. I would probably consider gold.
However, I got the L2P to match a blue Spyderco knife, and now I'm just trying to turn it into my perfect light. (As if...)

This morning, I put it back together. A size-13 o-ring was just too huge - it pulled the boot so far in to the tailcap, that I was back at square one as far as button access.
I discovered an o-ring I had lying around - I think it was the spare head seal from a JET E3S, but I can't be sure. Anyway, it's the right diameter, and only ~ .5mm thick. Fit like a glove.
It pulled the boot down just enough to allow a solid tail-stand on my newly crenelated tail, and is a breeze to access.
As an aside, I put my hard-press McClicky into the 6P, as well. Much better than the twisty, but initial impressions - I prefer the modified L2P forward-clicky.
Very happy with both. Now I just need my NB 3-mode neutral optic to arrive to make this L2P my new favorite, and a perfect match for my dealer-exclusive Spydie.
Thanks for the input, guys.

Find yourself a SolarForce tactical switch (Won't tailstand). I just modified the rubber rings on the L2T with a round garden washer. Now it is perfect! Tailstanding is nice, and I have a few of those, but when I need light, I want it *now.* So I prefer the forward tactical switch that Solar Force makes. Be aware that they may not work on other flashlights, even though the threads are the same.

Have a SS L2 inbound, got it to play with some different P60's. Noticed they have a SS crenelated switch replacement that will tail stand. Of course I noticed it after I placed the order :(
