Flashlight abuse tale

My brother who is mentally disabled (autism) lives in his own house with 24/7 caretakers. To qualify for benefits, he and the property must meet several criteria. One is that the house pass inspection. For whatever reason, the inspector saw the messy hack job wiring in the garage and failed the inspection. (Why it didn't fail last year is beyond me.) In three instances, romex was spliced into lighting fixture wiring without the code required junction box. It was up to me to install the boxes.

I was using a Rayovac Sportsman Extreme 4 watt (3 C-cell, cree XR-E) flashlight since power was shut off. I was positioning the flashlight for better illumination when it rolled off a rafter over 8 feet high, hitting the ladder and landing on the concrete floor. Other than some new rough marks at the edges, it seems unfazed.

Well, that's my flashlight abuse for the week :)

I have one of those 4W Sportsman Extremes also. It seems like a pretty well made light for the price. Glad to see yours survived such a hard fall.

Good luck with the inspection issue. I hope it will pass next time. Sending positive healing vibes for your brother.

sounds like someone needs a headlight. :D

I was thinking the same thing when I was there fumbling with that flashlight. I have the ROV headlight and didn't even think about it. I use it often at home. Any flashlight fan who does not have a headlight is missing out big time on convenience.

Thanks to the others for the well wishes.lovecpf

I've had the ROV Extreme 1W Headlight (single AA) for a couple years now, and it's one of my most used lights. It even has a decent beam because of the optic lens on the Luxeon. The blue and red LEDs are kinda cool too.

I think the best thing about it is how small it is.
