Since the OP is satisfied with the lights that he has for INSIDE the house, and seems to want a thrower for rare usage to look OUTSIDE the house, from the inside. I'd like to suggest the low cost 3C Defiant Super Thrower. That with a few spare C cells and he is good to go. I know that there is a LOT of complaining about alkalines around here, but really... how many lights have you ever destroyed with leaking alkalines? I can think of only one. That was a night reader that my wife used, left it on, killed the battery, and I tested it months later. I recently found a 3D maglight with duracells in it that are dated 2008! They were probably put in there in 2003. The light had been on the missing list for a few years bounced around from the inside of one car or truck to another and ended up under a bed or in a closet. teh batteries didn't leak, and still have a charge.
At any rate, the Defiant is ON/OFF comes with batteries, he can buy a few more, and if he ever goes with eneloops, can use them wrapped in plastic or cardboard. It is only $24 and will out throw most AA lights. I imagine that the light will be used for less than 2 minute blasts, now and then, and even C's will last a long time like that.
Don't get me wrong... it would not be my main "power went out" light, but for the stated purpose of the OP, it should do nicely.
