Ok I know there are numerous threads about different flashlights on bikes and what not.

Most of them seem to be used on the road. I ride my local trails 4 times a week and I need light. I am currently working on a triple seoul but that will be bar mounted so I need something for my helmet.

The other night my wife wrecked and was not able to finish the ride, it was getting dark and luckily I brought along my 1watt ROV light. On the bar it was horrid. So I took the velcro that I used and mounted it on my helmet and it worked pretty ok. It was aimed to low so that made it hard.

The main complaint that I had about the light was that the hot spot was just a little too narrow.

What lites on DX would have a wider spot and might last a good while running full bore? I am looking for cheaper lights since this is just a temp fix till i build my second triple seoul.

This is what I would like
Multi level
a little wider hot spot that my ROV
Decent run time (can be CR123 or any other smallish battery)
The brighter the better.
Around 20 bucks.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
I know there was a shoot out of a bunch of DX light but I cannot find the thread.

Last friday I used my 3w and 1w ROV flashlights and they actually did pretty well.

I mounted the 1watt on my helmet initially but realized that it didnt have as much throw down the trail where I really needed to see.

After swapping them the rest of the ride was great. Other than getting used to riding at night it was tons of fun.

Now to get something a little brighter, thinking MTE 5mode.

I ran the 1-mode enhanced CREE 1-aa light all summer on my commuter bike. Great runtime, decent output, check it out here.

I have since upgraded to the MTe 5-mode Rebel 100 light. It is MUCH brighter, although the runtime on high isn't so great (1.9-2.3A draw)... But strobe is actually fairly useable; if you don't seizure (sp?), so that should lengthen runtime!
