On a return flight from Europe recently, and, after repeated browbeating from a old friend that just happend to be the pilot, I finally gave him my ARC HA AAA LE. Two weeks ago, I gave my Streamlight Stylus to another old friend whom is now Chief of Surgery of a major hospital in a large midwest city.

My battery is now down to the following:

ASP Taclite (EDC)
Inova X5 (original version) (EDC)
Surefire 9N (in briefcase)
Mag Instrument Magcharger (in vehicle)
Brinkman Legend LX (in vehicle glove box)
Surefire 12ZM (on nightstand)

While not purposely doing so, I have trimmed my inventory where it is likely at its leanest ever. I have not found a reason to purchase more or a product that I found worthy to acquire.

What are the newest products available these days?

One phrase for ya:

Luxeon Star...

There's way too many options to even begin to begin... And these guys are absolutely worth it...

ARC LSH-S or P

It will replace your Inova as your EDC.

It's half the size, twice the brightness, twice the throw, it's white luxeon LED is white not blue, and it's better looking. (this is of course, an opinion)

My favorites, and what a lot of CPFers have had great experiences with:

Badboy/Madmax sandwiches
Inretech 2AA drop-in
McLux (in Turnkey units or Do It Yourself parts)
Arc-LS (either L or Hs, premiums or standards)
Blaster II/III(II+)
And if you can ever get your hands on them:
LGI, Adrenaline/Ill-Pill, and lots more...

There are also a few others, like the CMG Reactor III or the Streamlight 3AA Task-Light, and the latter which is initially starting to get some good reviews.

And these mentioned are only 1Wers... Wait 'till you see the possibilities of the 5W options...

And then the incandescents... For starts, I'd say, check out SureFire's A2 or Streamlight's TwinTask lights... And maybe check into something like a Tigerlight for another rechargeable...

Hey KT, if you need any help makeing your collection smaller you can give me the Magcharger. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I think that kogatana has one of the most discriminating criteria for flashlight applications of any flashaholic; he knows precisely what his needs are, and buys accordingly.

For this reason, I don't believe that any 1 watt LS will replace anyting in his arsenal. However, the 5 WATT Luxeon Star LED is showing a lot of promise.

Get one of MrBulks SNII's with a 5w LS. He just posted a 216 lumen output result and the one I've got will out throw anything I own but my 1,000,000 cp Vector and its got good spill. Plus the SNII is only 2C size. I love mine.

After reading many posts from koga, I think that the McLux might be an option. Although price and availability may be an issue.

KT, I know you will have to replace your Arc-AAA. It's way too useful to be without one.

Hello Mr. Dot,

If so inclined, please e-mail me. I have a couple ideas I would like to bounce off you.

kogatana,

I have to agree with Mr Ted Bear that the Arc LS probably not the ticket for you. For me, it's the "if you only had one" light. But perhaps the Arc LS4, if you can wait a little while . . . ?

It looks like your inventory tends to dwindle. Mine tends to grow. I think have to work on weeding it out, and that means saying goodbye to old friends. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mecry.gif

Maybe I should have more friends who are people and fewer who are flashlights. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif
