OK, i do not know a lot about flashlights. I am looking for something that isn't to expensive say around 30 bucks. It will not get a lot of use just need one to have well in case i need one. Would like it to be small enough to carry easily for walks at night or to take on a camping trip to light up a path etc. It will probably spend most of its time in the glove box of my car. I was originally thinking about a twin task light. Light should not be to much larger than 6" i would like to buy local but could order on line and i want something economical to operate. I live in Louisville,Ky. if there are any stores that are recommended. Thanks in advance.

Thanks Vic.

A good place for a light on the lower priced side of things is shining beam. Fast service and good products.I'm in Va. and my orders are here in 3 days with cheap shipping.

The Romisen RC N3 is the most popular budget light here, can't go wrong with Shinningbeam. Avoid places like DX/Kaidomain since shipping takes 2+ weeks from China and they aren't dependable.

At around $20 US dollars the multi mode Mini Maglite LED is, IMHO, one of the best "bang for your buck" purchases you can make, and they are widely available also. Your local walmart or kmart will probably have them in stock.

This shows all of shining beam's AA battery lights which I think is what you want. A 1xAA light is quite small and will work nicely.

I would recommend looking for a light that has multiple brightness levels as that is really handy for a general purpose light. Get at least a 2 mode.
I personally like the itp lights. The SA1 is their latest 1xAA light, but for 8 dollars cheaper, the C series ones are good too.

An alternative link for browsing is here:

I'd check out itp and romisen once again as the others will be too expensive.

Batteries: I HIGHLY recommend getting special batteries for this light. Since it is rarely used, this will be worth the money.
Energizer Ultimate Lithium is a good choice, as shown here:
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00003IEME/?tag=cpf0b6-20

The reason is that they last a lot longer than Alkaline and DO NOT LEAK! Since you wont use the light much, you do not want leaking potential to ruin your light. The extended battery life is handy too and it also works in extreme cold.

They are only 8 bucks for 4 of em, so its not a big expense and will help protect your expensive light.

Nothing wrong with this light, nice to handle, easy to switch and strobe for messing around with.

Well within your budget and it is on offer from a cpf vendor.

For your application a Dorcy 2AA Gelbrite $3 plus a Dorcy 2 cell LED upgrade bulb $4-$7 would do the job.

Alkaline batteries die in the heat of a glove box. They also leak and damage the flashlight.
So for the next $20 either buy some Energizer L91 lithium primaries, or buy some LSD NiMH batteries and charger. (Make sure the NiMH batteries are LOW SELF DISCHARGE, usually sold as PRE-CHARGED.)

Some good popular budget lights to look at.

Romisen RC-N3 R4 @shiningbeam
Romisen RC-G2 @shiningbeam
ITP A3 EOS
Akoray K-106 3 mode @kaidomain
Ultrafire WF-504B @dealextreme
Solarforce L2 similar to above
