JUDCO

I was fooling around with a KROLL switch that didn't work right and in the process of fixing it I noticed the JUDCO mark on the bottom of the switch.
I did a quick search and found the above URL. Seems like a promising looking place to go for the "PERFECT" switch. Maybe they can build some for us. Any ideas? Has this been attempted in the past with JUDCO? How does the KROLL switch get it's name? Is the KROLL really a JUDCO or is it the other way around?
What would the "PERFECT" Flashlight switch actually be?
Maybe we can convince them to build us a special edition of super KROLL.
Any ideas?

I wonder if they could make one with leaf type contacts? The plunger would push a thick contact against a flexible leaf spring with a contact on the end. Make the contacts open so the contacts can be cleaned on occasion.
Oh yeah, dump the spring for the negative contact! A metal threading would make a great contact and discourage stripping the old plastic type. I wonder if something like that can be had for ten to twelve bucks? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Very interesting you bring this up. I started this thread: The Kroll switch -- where does it come from? last year and was politely told to butt out, mind my own business, and I wasn't on the need-to-know list. The "shush" sort of weirded me out at the time, but I let the issue drop as a matter of courtesy.

Nice sleuthing yaesumofo, I guess we'll see what gets stirred up this time. Inquiring minds want to know -- who was / is Mr. Kroll? (bring on Oliver Stone! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif)

Cheers,

Dave

The JUDCO connection is mentioned on that old thread. I think that if they really wanted to be anonymous they would not put their name on every "KROLL" switch.
As you can see here

it is plainly visible.

They probably don't want to be bothered with small orders.
Anyway we at the CPF represent the cream of the crop of flashlight design. I am sure they would want to be on board with such a high end group of designers manufactures and USERS of flashlight and the related switches.

BTW in case you are interested taking the image took several attempts. Finally achieved with the Coolpix 990 in macro mode. I used an ARC4+ on level 3 for illumination. It is hard to take a picture of white on white, the only contrast available is the reflection of the source light.
