This is probably the first of several dumb questions.

Does a self-respecting Flashaholic keep the packaging, boxes, and paperwork that comes with most flashlights, or do you just toss 'em?

JB

I'd think it's goof to hold onto some of the packaging in case you're going to trade the light later or sell it. Items with packaging seem to do better in some cases.

That's one reason I was asking. When I have traded/sold handguns, dealers usually offered a few more dollars if I had the original box and paperwork...didn't know if the same applied to high end flashlights.

I have some hobbies, most of the cases the products I buy I try to keep the packaging. Flashlights, Knives, Eheim filters, even the cheap Timex watch haha.

And i hate the new surefire boxes /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon23.gif

Hello JB,

Welcome to CPF.

I like to keep my boxes, but my wife reminds me that we only have so much room.

I tend to use most of my lights and only keep the boxes for a short while.

Tom

I keep everything, but usually my wife disposes of them during spring cleaning (without my knowledge, of course). I absolutely keep the packaging until I'm sure the light's a keeper.

Ditto...

I like the new SureFire boxes, at least the ones for the E2D and smaller lights--nice mix of red/black colours. I know some people have mentioned that the new packaging doesn't "hold" the lights together as well, but mine have been ok, so far. I prefer the new red/black packaging to the old grey boxes.

I generally try to keep the boxes too, but will probably eventually recycle them. I have two big boxes full of flashlight boxes. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif Definitely throw out blister packs as well.

I keep everything too, and am not a huge fan of the new Surefire boxes. I also have a box of boxes for all the packing material and the like that comes with them. This tends to save on materials cost when I ship things.

I always keep my boxes for three reasons. One: If the flashlight needs to be returned under warranty.
Two: Helps to maintain resale value if selling.
Three: Can add protection if storing flashlight.
